Thanks for any help Nancy --- Nancy- This type of query is probably best suited for one of the lists that are directly concerned with ship lists and such--possibly TheShipsList-L@rootsweb.com. Perhaps someone on that list would know. Joan

    1. Re: [PAYorkGEN] Do you want photos of area churches, cemeteries, tombstones, ...
    2. Hi, Blake. What a kind offer! I am a volunteer for Random Acts of Genealogy Kindness, and take tombstones pictures in Newnan, GA. I understand the difficulty in getting pictures when you live away from family and ancesteral place. I am not asking you to take pictures for me, but maybe you can give me a lead. I recently obtained an obituary for my GGrandmother. My family started out in Berks County, then went to York, and some went to Maryland. I know York and Maryland are close in some areas. The cemetery in the obituary is Monte Marie, Towson, MD. I have checked all places I could find on the internet, but cannot even locate the cemetery. There is no one in RAGOK doing tombstones in Baltimore County after 1900. Have you ever heard of that cemetery? If you cannot help, I understand. You are doing a great kindness for many. Ginny

    2. Here in the Seattle, King, WA area, we have quite a few places with online photo databases. Following is a link that has links to TWELVE of them, all in one place. Maybe this will help anyone looking in this area, but I mainly am posting this to help other people get some ideas as to the kinds of places that have these online photos. Maybe it will inspire you to check out similar things in your areas of interest. http://content.lib.washington.edu/imls/kcsnapshots/participants.html Sherry Steele (Seattle)

    2. Blake M. Stough
    3. Over the past few years that I have been a member of this list, I have seen many people ask for photos of area churches, cemeteries, tombstones, etc. I have helped many times, and would like to offer this service to everyone again. I know that I am seeking photos from other areas, and have a hard time getting people to help. If you would like me to take some photos from York County, please contact me at stauch1752@suscom.net. You will need to give me time to get to these places and locate graves, but I will get it done when I can. Have a great day. Blake M. Stough

    1. Gemmill/Arthur/Thompson
    2. I have a Dr. Thomas Franklin Arthur son of Richard Arthur of Harford County Maryland and mother Mary Jane Jordan Arthur of York, PA. Dr. Arthur was born in Iowa as his parents had migrated there in the mid 1850's. Dr. Arthur was born abt. 1859. After his father's death in the Civil War (died at Vicksburg) the family moved back to the York area. At one time Dr. Arthur was listed in 1900 census living with another dentist a Eliah Freeston? & family. (spelling probably wrong). Later Dr. Arthur returned to his father's birth place, Harford County MD. In the 1910 & 1920 census two ladies were living with Dr. Arthur. There names were Nannie (born abt. 1882) & Jennie (born abt. 1886) Gemmill. Both born I believe in PA. When Dr. Arthur died in 1925 he left all that he owned to these two ladies, excluding his immediate family. In other research of the Arthur name, I came across a Rev. William Arthur from Scotland and his wife Agnes Gemmill. Both came to this county in the late 1700's. Lived around the Lancaster, PA area then migrated to Ohio. I have also come across the Gemmill name in connection with my other branch which is Thompson. I am trying to figure out the Gemmill/Arthur connection if there is one? Dr. Arthur is the grandson of John Arthur born in PA abt. 1785 and Clemency Thompson born in MD abt. late 1700's. Sorry, I am in the process of moving so I am behind in my checking. Thank you,
