Could someone please explain to me why this woman send m, a list member, a message that she wants to unsubscribe? What does this possibly have to do with Quaker records? Perhaps the list manager needs to remove her from the list, as requested. -----Original Message----- From: Mary M McCaslin <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Monday, January 22, 2001 8:06 PM Subject: Re: [PAYorkGEN] Quakers in 1700s York County >UNSUBSCRIBE > >On Mon, 22 Jan 2001 19:00:40 -0500 "Sandra Ferguson" <[email protected]> >writes: >> I have the Warrington MM records from ca 1738 through 1800....the >> following >> Carsons are mentioned, in addition to the ones listed below; Andrew, >> Jane, & >> Nancy. I have the Warrington MM records from ca 1738 through 1800....the following Carsons are mentioned, in addition to the ones listed below; Andrew, Jane, & Nancy. If interested in what is recorded for any/all, just let me know which. This MM was first established in 1734, after obtaining approval from the Sadsbury MM in Lancaster County. Meetings were held in private homes at first, and the the log meeting house was build in 1745. Menallen MM (Adams co) was formed from Warrington in 1780, and in 1786 the York MM was formed. These seem to comprise all the early MM in the county, with no mention of others. I'm looking at a Quaker family (Carson) in the 1700s, some of whom lived in Fawn Township in York County. Would records for them be found in the Newberry or York Monthly Meetings? I heard there was a short-lived Fawn MM. Are there records for it available anywhere? John Ottinger
We have added several more cemetery records to the York County Archives thanks to the contributions of several thoughtful folks. These can be perused at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/pa/york/ Thanks! Don & Jeanine Hartman FamilyHart http://midatlantic.rootsweb.com/familyhart/

Does anyone know what church's were around in the 1760 timeframe ?
Does anyone know where I could find York co. Church records for the period AFTER 1800? Records up to 1800 have been widely published, but I could really use these records for 1800-1850. I'm particularly interested in Codorus, Hopewell, and Shrewsbury townships. Thanks, Nathan
Does anyone know where the Mennonite records for York County would be archived? Dear Listers I have been receiving mailings from the list for several weeks having subscribed in order to make an enquiry regarding a specific question that I had. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to continue with the subscription but I don't know how to unsubscribe from this list. Could someone please advise me on how to do this. Thank you Dave
To unsubscribe from ANY rootsweb list, send an email to the list, including the extra word request in the address... [email protected] put unsubscribe in the message. This will do the job. The method is the same for any of the lists, so I suggest you save this message, to help you in the future. -----Original Message----- From: Dave Hirons <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Thursday, January 18, 2001 6:09 PM Subject: [PAYorkGEN] Advice please >Dear Listers > >I have been receiving mailings from the list for several weeks having >subscribed in order to make an enquiry regarding a specific question >that I had. A few months ago I asked for help in locating a Joseph Sterner (b. abt 1823 in PA). Since that time, I have found my Joseph Sterner. He was baptised at St. David's (Sherman's) Ref. & Luth. Ch. in W. Manheim Twp., York Co., PA. Below is the information that I have found. Could anyone tell me anything more about my Joseph's parents: John & Rachel Sterner. Joseph L. Sterner (b. 5 Sept. 1822 York Co., PA) Parents: John STERNER (b. ?; d. bet 1846/1847 L. Dickinson Twp., Cumberland Co., PA) sp. Rachel (b. abt 1794 MD; d. aft 1860) I have found a John STERNER (b. 18 Jul 1799) and baptized in St. David's church, but do not know if it is the same John. Also, I would like to determine Rachel's maiden name. John's ancestry may have been back into Maryland? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Don Lerew [email protected]

In response to Rick and Melony Graham's inquiry re: the descendants of Johan Jacob Parr. The orphan court data you include refers to the sons of the above. Johan Adam (Johannes) and Jacob were sons. As you note, Johan Adam married Elisabeth Scherman, while Jacob, Jn, married Maria Johanna (Hannah) Dill (Diehl). Johan Adam died c. 1794 and left minor children as noted in the court records. Evidently, Johan Adam Pfarr (Parr) arrived from Germany with wife, father-in-law Hans Martin Bohler, friend Nichlaus Freitag and Ludwig Miller (Muller), later a neighbor of Johan Jacob in 1749 near Littlestown (later Adams Co.). These names appear in "Pennsylvania German Pioneers," by Strassburger (vol. I, pp. 221-224.). Also, York Co. tax records for 1778 show a Jacob and Jacob, Jn. plus John Parr. Thus the father and two sons. As far as the Bughs, I have the standard International Genealogical Index data showing Sarah Jane, her spouse and childrens' names. If you have more on this line, I would be very interested. Thanks for the orphan court data. I have some of it, but yours was nicely organized. I tried to E-mail you directly, but it probably didn't go through. Regards, Larry Thomas Parr
