    3. >From the Pittsburgh Commercial Gazette dated Thursday, January 25 1894: SAMUEL CHADWICK died yesterday morning in his 80th year at his late residence, Lincoln avenue, East End. The funeral services are to be in the Emory M E church, Penn avenue, East End, on Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock. The interment in Homewood cemetery will be private. SAMEUL CHADWICK was born in Westmoreland county, Pa., February 23 1814. While still a boy his father moved to Pittsburgh and settled in what is now Oakland. When a young man he removed to one of his father's farms in Wilkins township, now Twenty-first ward, Pittsburgh. During his long residence in this neighborhood he became well and favorably known amongst the people of the East Liberty valley. As 'Squire CHADWICK', he was beloved and esteemed by his neighbors and many an old resident will mourn his loss. He was a school director of the Lincoln district for many years and represented his district in the central board of education. He served as a member of the state legislature during the sessions of 1865 and '66. In his private life he was a sincere and earnest Christian. At an early age he became a member of the Methodist church and gave it his lifelong devotion. He was a charter member of the Emory Methodist Episcopal church in East Liberty, and served continuously on its board of trustees up to the time of his death. About a year ago he withdrew his membership to unite with the new Lincoln Avenue church, of which society he was president of the board of trustees. As an active church and Sabbath school worker his loss will be greatly felt in both these societies, and it will be hard to fill his place. Mr CHADWICK leaves surviving him his widow, Mrs MARY CHADWICK; his three children, HARRY L, MARGARET A, and BERTHA C, the latter married to F W McKEE Esq.; also his two grandchildren, BESSIE and MINNIE KENNEDY, the former having been married only a short time since to Mr PERCY L MILLER of Pompton, N.
