COOK, REED At her home in Washington, Iowa, June 27, at 11 p.m., died Mrs. Jane COOK in the 82nd year of her age. Mrs. COOK was the daughter of Wm. SAVAGE, a most highly respected citizen of this community fifty and more years ago. He lived on the farm north of town now owned by J. N. ELLIOTT, Esq. Here Mrs. COOK was brought up under most wholesome influences, and in early womanhood became a member of Robinson's Run A. R. church, of which her father was a ruling elder. Although the union of 1858 changed the name, her church relations remained the same during her long life. About fifty years ago, she, with her husband John COOK, moved to the vicinity of Washington, Iowa, and a little later into the city where she has lived since. Mrs. COOK was a most estimable Christian woman, whose aim in life seemed to be, to be like Christ. She has now gone, but we mourn not for her, but for ourselves. She was a child of God and an heir of eternal glory. "For if children then heirs." She leaves two sons, William A. and R. S., both citizens of Washington, Iowa, host of friends, many of whom live in the vicinity of McDonald to mourn the loss of a mother and a most excellent woman. Her husband, John COOK, who was a brother of Elizabeth COOK of McDonald, and a daughter Ada, died some years ago. At the time of her death Mrs. C. had been for nearly fifty years a member of the Second U. P. church of Washington, Iowa. "Blessed are the dead," etc. Miss Lizzie A. REED died June 20 of general debility. Deceased was about 63 years old and is survived by one sister and two brothers, Maria, James and Theodore, all of Midway. The funeral services were held Friday from her late home. Interment at Mt. Prospect Presbyterian cemetery. *Midway column
