The Valley Independent Feb 26 1994 JERICHO Violet J Jericho, 79, of 401 Ridge Ave., Monessen, died Friday, Feb. 25, 1994, in Mon Valley Hospital, following a short illness. She was born Nov., 27, 1914, in Charleroi, a daughter of the late Thomas and Olive Knowles Baker. Mrs. Jericho was a Charleroi resident for most of her life. She was Protestant by faith and a member of the Golden Agers of Charleroi. She is survived by her husband, Charles J Jericho; one daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Earl Zundel of Belle Vernon; two grandchildren, Jerri Lynn McMonagle and Douglas Zundel; one step-brother, Thomas Baker of Charleroi; and a step-sister, Doris Marie McChesney of Pittsburgh. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Authur Brocky. Friends will be received in the Robert A. Billick Funeral Home, Inc., Grand Boulevard and Marion Avenue, Monessen, today from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. EDGETT Margie Preisendorfer Edgett, 66, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Bentleyville, died Monday, Jan. 3, 1994, in Phoenix, Ariz. Mrs. Edgett was born Dec. 2, 1927, in Marianna, a daughter of the late George and Magdelena Preisendorfer. Surviving, in addition to her family, are two sisters, Elizabeth DiBuono of Monessen and Mary Seidel of Bentleyville; and two brothers, George Preisendorfer of Cleveland, Ohio, and Frank Preisendorfer of Bentleyville. A brother, Joseph Preisendorfer, and a sister, Rose Johnson, are deceased. Burial was in Phoenix, Ariz. BANKS Edward J Banks, 67, of 744 Shoyer Ave, Pittsburgh, died Thursday, Feb 24, 1994, in Rest Haven IV Care Home, Carroll Township. He was born Nov 17, 1926, in Gallatin, a son of the late Joseph Banks and Josephine B Robinson. Mr Banks worked at Clairton Mill and at US Steel for 10 years. He also worked at Westinghouse Airbrake and was a former employee of Peasant Village. He spent most of his life in Pricedale, three years in Pittsburgh and the past six months in the personal care home. Mr Banks was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gallatin. He is survived by his wife, Larese Banks of Pricedale; 3 sons, Edward J Banks, Jr, of Baltimore, Md, Lazan Edward Banks of Monessen, and Lynn Banks of Charleroi; two daughters, Lorretta W Miles of Pittsburgh and Laverta Miller of Donora; one sister, Doris J Miller of Charleroi; two brother, Louis Robinson of Duquesne and Thayer B Robinson of Baltimore, Md; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Jonas Robinson in 1963. She was born Leesville, Va, Jan 26, 1910, a daughter of the late Mahlon and Emma English Burnett. Mrs Hawker was a retired school teacher from the now Belle Vernon Area School District and formerly had taught for many years in the Rostraver School Disctrict. She was a member of the Fayette City Unite Presbyterian Church. Mrs Hawker is survived by her husband, Wayne Hawker; a son, Mahlon (Tony) Hawker of Lorton, Va; one brother, William Burnette of Virginia; and two sisters, Helen Clover of the state of California and Hazel Murray of Illinois. There will be no public visitation or viewing and the funeral service will be private in the chapel of the Belle Vernon Cemetery on Monday. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Howard McCrory Funeral Home of Fayette City is handling the arrangements. MISENKO Elizabeth Marie Misenko, 91, of Vestaburg, died Friday, Feb 25, 1994, at 8:05 p.m. in Mon Valley Hospital. She was born Oct 16, 1902, in Homestead, a daughter of the late Andrew and Barbara Sepesy Mattis. Mrs Misenko was a homemaker. She was a member of the Parish of St. Oliver Plunkett, Fredericktown. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs Misenko is survived by two sons, Edward Misenko of Belle Vernon and Ralph Misenko of Mentor, Ohio; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Misenko, Sr, who died March 30, 1959; and a son, John Misenko. ACKARD David C Ackard, 83, of 425 Delaware St, Monessen, died Friday, Feb 25, 1994, in Mon Valley Hospital, Carroll Township. He was born in Lincoln Place, April 5, 1910, a son of the late Roy and Sara Harger Ackard. Mr Ackard was a craneman by trade and had worked in Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel in the soaking pits. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in France. Mr Ackard was a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church of Monessen.
