The Valley Independent June 17, 1997 LAUDER Doris Jean LAUDER, 80, of Washington County Health Center, formerly of North Belle Vernon , died Wednesday, June 25, 1997, at 8 50 pm in the Washington County Health Center. She was born in Allenport on Sept 16, 1916, a daughter of the late Andrew and Grace MILLER REDD. Mrs LAUDER had resided in North Belle Vernon since 1939, having previously lived in Coal Center. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon. She worked as a beautician in Charleroi for several years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy E LAUDER on March 5, 1997 and an infant sister, Grace REDD. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Leslie and Carol LAUDER of Belle Vernon; and one daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Don PETERS of Huntingdon Beach, Calif; one brother, James REDD of ?, Ind; three sisters, Lois WEEKLY of Belle Vernon, Ruby ROMITO of Charleroi and Beverly BARINGER of Coal Center; five grandchildren, Holly DILLON, Leslie LAUDER, William LAUDER, David PETERS, Michael PETERS; and two great-grandchildren, Brenna and Sara DILLON. MACDONALD Elsie L MACDONALD, 80, of 315 Sheppard Ave, North Charleroi, died Thursday, June 26, 1997, at 8 15 pm in Mon Valley Hospital. She was born in Belle Vernon on July 24, 1916, a daughter of the late Samuel and Elizabeth WARBUTTON MARTIN. Mrs MACDONALD had resided in North Charleroi since 1965, formerly living in Belle Vernon. She was a member of St Mary’s Episcopal Church of Charleroi and retired after 28 years of service in the laundry department of the former Charleroi division of Mon Valley Hospital. Survivors include her husband, Tom MACDONALD, one daughter and son-in-law, James and Betty MACDONALD of North Charleroi; three daughter and two sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Patrick KELLY of Belle Vernon, Gloria TOMER of Royersford, Pa, and Lennie and William POCKY of Belle Vernon; one brother, Robert MORTIN of Charleroi; two sisters, Vera HERRON of Charleroi and Dolores FEDERER of Belle Vernon; 10 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. APPOLONIA Joseph L APPOLONIA, Jr, 68, of Route 481 (Park Avenue Extension), Monongahela, died Thursday, June 26, 1997, in Jefferson Hospital. He was born Aug 5, 1928 in New Eagle, a son of the late Joseph L APPOLONIA, Sr and Margaret FURIGA APPOLONIA. Mr APPOLONIA was a life long resident of the Monongahela area where he was a member of the Grace Evangelical Church, serving as treasurer for 33 years. He was a 1946 graduate of Monongahela High School and Robert Morris College, where he received a degree in (unreadable) Mr APPOLONIA retired as an accountant at the former Combustion Engineering in Monongahela with 30 years of service. He was also a member and served as secretary/treasurer for the New Eagle Bowling League and was a longtime scorekeeper for the New Eagle Fireman’s Baseball Club. Survivors include his wife, Ann COX APPOLONIA, with whom he celebrated 42 years of marriage on July 10, 1996; three sons, Terry of Indiana, Pa, Larry of Monongahela and Dann of West Newton; two grandsons, Michael and Joseph APPOLONIA; two granddaughters, Kathryn and Leigh APPOLONIA; one brother, Baptist APPOLONIA; two sisters, Mary PIETROBONI and Martha RAZZANO, all of New Eagle. Born June 24, 1941, in North Charleroi, he was a son of the late Everett and Viola CARTER. A lifelong resident of the Mon Valley, Mr Carter was retired from Page American Chain and Cable Company in Monessen. He was a member of Quinn Chapel AME Church, Donora. HAWKINS Glenda HAWKINS, 46, of 609 Castner Ave, Donora, died Sunday June 22, 1997, in the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Pittsburgh. Born May 8, 1951, in Huntsville, Ala, she was the daughter of the late George and Pansie CHILDRESS HAWKINS. Miss HAWKINS was formerly a cook at Rutger’s University. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Huntsville, Ala, and most recently attended Mon Valley Community Church, Donora. Born Oct 31, 1915, in Elizabeth, he was a son of the late Onufrey and Peleghia HOMA. Mr Homa was a member and officer of Dormition of the Holy Virgin Russian Orthodox Church. He was a retired heater in the rolling mill department of USX National Tube Works, with 40 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Nicholas HOMA, in 1971; and four brothers, Samuel, Thomas, Stanley (Butch) and Michael HOMA.
