He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Susan BARON; three sons: John BARON of Canonsburg, George BARON, Jr., of Washington, and Andrew BARON of Raccoon; four daughters: Mrs. Susan KAKOS of Canton, Ohio, Mrs. Anna KAMINSKI of Pittsburgh, Mrs. Marie ZELINKO of Slovan, and Mrs. Julia CRAKER of Piney Fork, Ohio. Mrs. Anna Marie LAUGHLIN, 46, wife of Harry J. LAUGHLIN, died at 4:50 p.m. Friday, November 26, 1943, in the home of her mother Mrs. Lucy BABLE, Burgettstown, following a lingering illness. She was born February 19, 1897, at Raccoon, a daughter of Lucy J. TRUAX BABLE and the late J. Clark BABLE. Besides her husband and mother, she is survived by one daughter, Dorothy; a grandson, Philip; one sister, Mrs. J. F. MURPHY, Burgettstown, and four brothers: Thomas BABLE, Burgettstown; William BABLE Langeloth; and Samuel and Frank BABLE, Burgettstown. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Lee and Wilson Funeral home, Burgettstown, conducted by the Rev. William FLURKEY, pastor of the Westminster Presbyterian church, Burgettstown. Burial was in the Chestnut Ridge cemetery. John Porter BAILEY, 75, died at 12:30 a.m. Monday, December 6, 1943, in his home near Candor, R. D. 1, Bulger, of heart trouble. A son of the late William S. and Esther GALBRAITH BAILEY, he was born November 28, 1868, near Bavington and moved to Candor shortly after. He ha engaged in farming practically his entire life. Mr. BAILEY was a member of the Center U. P. church, Midway. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Isabelle AKELSON BAILEY; two daughters: Eleanor, the wife of Warren SHELLY of Greenville, and Louise, the wife of Alex DONALDSON at home; one brother: Samuel G. BAILEY of Pittsburgh; one sister, Mrs. Glenn ADAMS of Salem, Ore. There are three grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the Bailey home, conducted by the Rev. S. A. MCCOLLAM, D. D. pastor of the First United Presbyterian church, McDonald. Burial was in the Raccoon cemetery. John C. ROGERS, 81, died at 6:00 a.m. Sunday, December 5, 1943, in his home, 145 Fifth street, McDonald. He was the third son and the fifth child of E. K. and Margaret ALLISON ROGERS, and was born August 17, 1862, in Canonsburg, where the family resided temporarily while their home in East Wheeling street Washington, was being built. This remained the ROGERS family home for nearly three quarters of a century. His sisters, Miss Mary and Miss Jennie ROGERS, lived there until their death. Of his four brothers, Hugh, Frank, and Harry are dead, and Allison E. ROGERS lives in Detroit with his daughter, Mrs. Walton LANGDALE. John C. ROGERS was educated in the Washington public schools and attended Washington and Jefferson college. In 1890, at Pasadena, Calif., he married Annie BOYCE of Boyce station. They came to McDonald the following year and several years later adopted a son, George Boyce ROGERS, for a number of years the Ford automobile dealer of McDonald, who died about fifteen years ago in a motorcycle accident. The first Mrs. ROGERS died in 1910 and in 1912 he married Belle DUNCAN who survives. Mr. ROGERS' tact, ability, and poise soon were recognized by the citizens of McDonald who in the Nineties elected him to the borough council and subsequently to the office of chief burgess. About the same time the Oil Men's Fair association was formed and he was elected its president and was reelected year after year. The last McDonald fair was held about 1904 or 1905. He was a director of the Burgettstown Fair association for a number of terms, and served as a judge of the racing at Burgettstown and other Washington county fairs. When the United States entered World War I Mr. ROGERS was appointed chairman of Washington County Draft Board No. 5, and served with distinction throughout the war. At the time of his death he was a director of the First National bank, a ruling elder of the First Presbyterian church, and a member of Garfield Lodge No. 604, F&AM. A funeral director for over half a century, he was widely known professionally. Besides his wife, Mr. ROGERS is survived by two sons, both of whom are serving in the armed forces: Lt. (jg) John C. ROGERS, Jr., who was called from the West coast following sea duty by the illness of his father, and Lt. William D. ROGERS, stationed at Camp DAVIS, N. C., who was associated with his father in business until his entrance into the army; and one daughter, Helen Louise, the wife of Lt. J. Albert SCHOTTENHEIMER, U. S. army, Santa Ana, Calif., air base. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Rogers funeral home, conducted by the Rev. S. A. MCCOLLAM, D. D., of the First U. P. church. Rev. A. A. Love, pastor of the Mt. Washington U. P. church, a family friend, offered prayer, and another friend of 40 years' standing, the Rev. J. A. BURGOON of St. Alphonsus church, McDonald, eulogized the deceased and offered prayer. Burial was in Robinson's Run cemetery. Former McDonald Couple Killed by Automobile Mr. and Mrs. William HENWOOD of Cadiz, Ohio, met instant death at 9:30 Sunday, December 5, 1943, when struck by an automobile. Returning from a visit to friends, they were almost at their home when the accident occurred. A five-year-old granddaughter was killed by a truck at the same place about a year ago. The HENWOOD family had resided many years at Laurel hill. Mrs. HENWOOD was Bessie LONGSTRETH, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Stephen LONGSTRETH of Sturgeon. She was aged about 55 and Mr. HENWOOD about 57. They had been married about 35 years. In their immediate family, they leave the following children: Alice, the wife of Raymond HARZELL of near Cadis, Ohio; William HENWOOD of Adena, Ohio, James HENWOOD of Cadiz, Ohio; John HENWOOD, stationed with the army in Mississippi, and Shirley, Robert, and Colleen HENWOOD at home. There are eight grandchildren. Mrs. HENWOOD leaves the following brothers and sisters: Edward LONGSTRETH of Sturgeon, Charles LONGSTRETH of Warren, Ohio, Mrs. Gustave PENIDE of Wheeling, W. Va., Harry LONGSTRETH of Sturgeon, Mrs. Dalton VERNER of McDonald, William LONGSTRETH of North BESSEMER, Mrs. Noel ALLOWAY of Clinton, Mrs. Thomas REDMAN of Sturgeon, Mrs. Harry AYRES of McDonald, and Cpl Robert LONGSTRETH, stationed with the army at Ft. Belvoir, Va. Mr. HENWOOD is survived by the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. G. E. SLATES of R. D. 1, McDonald, Charles HENWOOD of Morgantown, W.Va., Harry HENWOOD of Sewickley, Mrs. Jay GRIBBIN of Steubenville, Ohio, Mrs. Walter KIGHTLINGER of Oakdale, Mrs. William GRAHAM of Ambridge, and Mrs. Clarence MCKAY of Oakdale. Funeral services are being held this Thursday afternoon in Cadiz, Ohio where burial will be made. Mrs. Josie NIXON, 58, died at 9:55 p.m. Friday, December 3, 1943, in the home of John ROGERS, House 11, where she had been housekeeper for a number of years. She suffered a heart attack at 9:30 p.m. and died 25 minutes later. Mrs. NIXON was born April 15, 1885, at Rockwood, Tenn. She is survived by several nieces and nephews in Westland, Houston, and Detroit. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning. Mrs. William CAGNON and Mrs. Grace BARKER have received word that their sister, Mrs. Ella MCMAHON of Shadyside, Ohio, died at 1:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 1, 1943. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. John CAGNON and Mrs. Raymond GILBERT of McDonald, Mr. and Mrs. John BAIN of Colliers, W. Va., and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley ORTOSKI, and Mr. and Mrs. Merle CAGNON of Midway attended the funeral. Mrs. Gladys ESTMAN EATON, 53, died Friday morning, December 3, 1943, in her home 910 Ditzler street, Sheraden. A daughter of the late David and Agnes ESTMAN, she was born November 24, 1890, in Midway. She united with the Baptist church and was immersed at the age of thirteen by the pastor, the Rev. D. P. FRENCH. She was an active member of the Sunday school and the church. She and Henry T. EATON were married April 25, 1917, in the First Baptist church, Pittsburgh, by the Rev. W. A. RUPERT of Crafton. Mrs. EATON then transferred from the Midway Baptist church to the First Baptist church, Crafton, where she held the office of deaconess at the time of her death. She was past president of the Sheraden Woman's club, past worthy matron of Cyrus Chapter No. 78, Order of the Eastern Star; Holy Grail of Amaranth No. 69, and Damascus Shrine No. 1 of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Ruth E.; a brother, Wilford R. ESTMAN of Sharon; two sisters: Mrs. Earl KUNKLE of Midway and Mrs. Edwin MCFARLAND of Burgettstown. A brother, T. Burr ESTMAN, died October 19, 1943. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Herschberger funeral home, Crafton, conducted by the Rev. Mr. SELBY, assisted by the Rev. D. C. WHITMARSH of the Community Presbyterian church, Sheraden, and the Rev. P. *. HORNE, pastor of the Midway Baptist church. Burial was in Center cemetery, Midway.
