BAILEY, TAGLIAPIETRA, THOMAS, SHOTTON, SCOPEL John P. BAILEY of Bulger has received word that his brother, Matthew M. BAILEY, 72, died Monday, November 8, in his home in Salem, Ore. Angelo TAGLIAPIETRA, 67, died at 2:43 o'clock Thursday, November 4, 1943, in his home in Raccoon. He had been ill for three weeks and suffered a paralytic stroke eleven days ago. He was born April 22, 1876, in Italy. Until his retirement several years ago, Mr. TAGLIAPIETRA was employed as a coal miner. He was a member of the Order of Owls Nest 1294. He is survived by his wife and two daughters: Mrs. Joseph KRISTOFF and Mrs. Louis MALTONEY, both of Raccoon; two sons: Louis of North BESSEMER, and Second of Weirton. There are ten grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic church, Burgettstown, in charge of the Re. Fr. William MCCASHIN. Burial was in St. Ann's cemetery, Bulger. Patricia Violet THOMAS, aged 13 years, one month, and nine days, of R. D. 1, McDonald, died at 5:50 p.m. Wednesday, November 3, 1943, in the Mercy hospital, Pittsburgh, following a two-week illness of complications. He was born September 29, 1930, in Moon township and attended the Robinson township school near Midway. She is survived by her father, Edward James THOMAS, Sr.; two brothers: Edward James THOMAS, Jr., 15, and William Henry THOMAS, 7; a sister, Helen Charlotte THOMAS, 11. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the home of her aunt, Mrs. Rachel HENNON, 322 Center avenue, McDonald, conducted by the Rev. G. M. MCKNIGHT, pastor of the Robinson's Run U. P. church, McDonald. Burial was in Melrose cemetery, Bridgeville. Miss Mary Olive SHOTTON, 35, of Philadelphia died at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, November 6, 1943, in the Fitzgerald Mercy hospital, Philadelphia, following a six-weeks illness. A daughter of William SHOTTON of Midway and the late Anna COLE SHOTTON, she was born November 3, 1908, in Midway. She moved to Philadelphia about six years ago. Besides her father, she is survived by three sisters: Mrs. Elizabeth (Earl) SHRIVER of Valencia, Mrs. Margaret (Lewis) RENCE of R. D. 1, Oakdale, and Mrs. Alice (George) WILSMAN of Mt. Lebanon, and one brother, Sgt. James SHOTTON. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the MARSHALL funeral home, Oakdale, conducted by the Rev. H. Carlysle CARSON, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, Oakdale. Burial was in Robinson's Run cemetery. Bruno SCOPEL, 38, of Raccoon died at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 3, 1943, in the West Penn hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born November 13, 1905, at Francis Mine and had been employed as a coal miner. He was a member of the Order of Owls Nest 1294. Surviving are his wife, Emma TONETTI SCOPEL; two children, Katherine and Jack; his parents, Maria and Andrew SCOPEL, stationed in Florida; Pfc. John SCOPEL, stationed in Kentucky; William SCOPEL of Cleveland, and Verno and Andrew SCOPEL, both of Raccoon, and four sisters: Mrs. Olive CALEFFE, Raccoon, Mrs. Linda CONTI, North Bessemer, Mrs. Marcella DICKINSON, McDonald, add Mrs. Elsie STEINER of Mt. Washington. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in St. Ann's church, Bulger, with the Rev. Father J. ROBIEZEWSKI in charge. Burial was in the Fairview cemetery, Burgettstown.
