    3. CAMPBELL, FLOOD, PATTERSON, BROWN William C. CAMPBELL, one of the victims of the Darr mine disaster, was born near Ayrshire, Scotland, May 24, 1852. He came to this country with his elder brother, Dugal, now of McDonald. Mr. CAMPBELL was mine boss at Jumbo for several years and the men who worked with him still speak in praise of his just and pleasant manner of treatment. Their appreciation of him was shown when they presented him with a very fine gold watch and chain at the time of his removal, a little over two years ago. After leaving Jumbo he worked at Finleyville for two years, and from there he went to Darr mine, as boss, where he had been only four months at the time of his death, caused by the great explosion, December 19. Mr. CAMPBELL was twice married. To the first marriage four daughters and one son mourn the loss of a father. On September 5, 1904 he was married to Mrs. LIDSTER, who is bereft of a loving husband. Monday afternoon funeral services were held at his late home at Darr mines by Rev. W. D. IRONS, D. D., assisted by Rev. Wm. M. BUZZA. On Tuesday morning the remains were brought to McDonald, and taken to the First United Presbyterian Church where a short service was conducted, and the remains viewed by many friends. The interment was made at noon in Robinson Run cemetery. http://patheoldminer.rootsweb.com/darr3.html The body of Walter SHEPPARD, which is believed to be in the ill-fated Darr mine, has not been found at this writing.
