BRINKMAN, KELLEY, SHREFLER, SILVERTHORN, SCHAFER, KEARNS Betty Mae BRINKMAN, 14, died at 3:45 o'clock Sunday, September 19, 1943, in her home 69 Locust avenue, Muse, following several months' illness. She was a daughter of Harry and Ann GRIFFITH BRINKMAN and was in the eighth grade at Muse. Besides her parents she is survived by three sisters: Mrs. Lawrence COX, Jr., of Muse, Eleanor BRINKMAN of McDonald, and Beulah BRINKMAN at home; three brothers: Harry of McDonald, Private First-class Jefferson, stationed at Camp Edwards, Mass., and Raymond at home. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the BRINKMAN home, conducted by Evangelist Ella BOGER of McDonald. Burial was in Robinson's Run cemetery, McDonald. Albert Marion KELLEY, 64, died suddenly of a heart attack at 9:00 p.m. Thursday, September 9, 1943, in his home in R. D. 1, Oakdale. He was born December 1, 1878, in Braddock and had been a resident of Oakdale the past twelve years. He was a furnace installer by occupation. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alice GETTY KELLEY of Oakdale; two daughters: Mrs. Charles YOUNG of Carnegie and Mrs. Thomas HOOVER of Connellsville; two sons: Michael KELLEY of Washington and Herbert KELLEY of Crafton; two sisters: Mrs. Olan BENSON of BRADDOCK and Mrs. George FREY of Detroit; one brother, Charles KELLEY of Detroit. There are three grandchildren. Funeral services were held September 12 in the Bradwell funeral home, Carnegie, conducted by the Rev. W. Clarence THOMPSON, pastor of the Montours Presbyterian church. Burial was in the Union cemetery, Gayly. Mrs. Mary Ann O'CONNER SHREFLER, 66, died Thursday, September 9, 1943, in her home, 524 Hallock street, Duquesne heights, of a heart attack. She had been ill for several years. Mrs. SHREFLER had been a life long resident of the Pittsburgh vicinity. She and William SHREFLER were married in Pittsburgh 40 years ago. Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, William B., at home; two brothers: John O'CONNER and William O'CONNER, both of Pittsburgh. There are two grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in a Duquesne heights funeral home. Burial was in the Mt. Lebanon cemetery. Among those who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. William SPEER, Sr., and son Elmer William of R. D. 1, McDonald, Levi SHREFLER of Sturgeon, and Mrs. E. E. NIMAL of Ingram. James C. SILVERTHORN, 84, of Midway died at 3:35 p.m. Monday, September 20, 1943, at the home of his son, Chalmers C. SILVERTHORN, Midway, following an illness of two weeks. Mr. SILVERTHORN was a well-known carpenter and had resided in Midway for the past 40 years. He was born May 10, 1859, at Fairview, W. Va., a son of J. W. and Elizabeth SILVERTHORN. He moved to Midway in 1903. His wife died in 1919. Mr. SILVERTHORN was a member of the District Council of Carpenters Local of Carnegie. He attended the First Baptist church of Midway. He is survived by his son and four grandchildren: William of McKees Rocks, Mrs. Edward HARDY of Pittsburgh, James of Detroit, Mich., and Clifford K., seaman first class, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the home of his son in charge of the Rev. Philip W. HORNE, Pastor of the First Baptist church. Burial was in Fairview cemetery, Burgettstown. Harry SCHAFER, 72, died at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, September 18, 1943 in the Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh, following a lingering illness. Mr. SCHAFER was born March 15, 1871, in Robinson township and had lived in this vicinity all his life. He and Katherine BERNHART were united in Marriage June 17, 1913. Mr. SCHAFER had been engaged in the oil business before retiring. He was a member of the Montour's Presbyterian church. He is survived by his wife, Katherine SCHAFER: two daughters: Miss Hazel SCHAFER and Alice, the wife of Charles WINDSHEIMER, at home. There is one grandson. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Katherine MORNINGSTAR of Florida, and three brothers: John, Edward, and William, all of R. D. 1, Oakdale. Funeral services were held Tuesday in the SCHAFER home, R. D. 1, Oakdale conducted by the Rev. W. C. THOMPSON, pastor of the Montours Presbyterian church. Burial was in the Robinson's Run cemetery. William J. KEARNS, 93, died Friday, September 17, 1943, in his home at Beaver. He was born in Old Allegheny, Pittsburgh, On November 17, 1850. He spent most of his late years in Imperial. Following the death of his wife, Sally A. KEARNS in 1914, he lived wit his sons, William P and Alvin J. The latter died in May of 1940. Mr. KEARNS, a member of the Sharon and Valley Presbyterian churches, spent the last seven months in Allegheny county. He is survived by one son, William P. KEARNS, ten grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the KEARNS home in Beaver. Burial was in the Valley cemetery, Imperial.
