    3. COWDEN, KOWALSKI, DINSMORE Robert Welch COWDEN, 70, formerly of Mt. Pleasant township, died Wednesday afternoon, September 1, 1943, at his late home in East Rochester, Ohio. A son of Robert Sloan and Margaret ALLISON COWDEN, he was born September 15, 1873, in Mt. Pleasant township. He married Alcinda HICKMAN of Canonsburg in June of 1898. They resided in Mt. Pleasant township for about six years following their marriage and then moved to Ohio where Mr. COWDEN engaged in farming. Mrs. COWDEN survives with three daughters and two sons: Mrs. Viola MOTTICE, Mrs. Mary NETZ, and Arthur COWDEN of East Rochester; Mrs. Jeanetta SMITH of Canton, Ohio and Ensign Clark COWDEN who is on duty with the U. S. navy in the Pacific. Two sisters and two brothers survive: Mrs. Emma SMITH of Crafton and Miss Margaret, Joseph, and D. M. COWDEN, who reside near Westland. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the late home in East Rochester, Ohio. Sturgeon Miner Loses Life At Westland Theodore KOWALSKI, 22, was fatally injured at 2:15 p.m. Friday, September 3, 1943, in the Westland mine when a fall of slate crushed him, breaking his neck and fracturing his skull. He was employed as a machine worker in the Westland mine. KOWALSKI was born February 7, 1921, in Pittsburgh, the son of Joseph and Pauline JOZEVIOK KOWALSKI of Sturgeon, R. D. 1, McDonald. He resided with his parents. Besides his parents, he is survived by three brothers, S/Sgt. Joseph KOWALSKI, stationed in India, Pvt. Steve KOWALSKI, stationed at Camp Shanks, N. Y., and Edward KOWALSKI, at home, and three sisters, Jennie, Jessie, and Mary, all at home. The funeral was held Monday morning with requiem high mass in St. Mary's church, Carnegie, by the Rev. Fr. W. PAWELKIEWICZ. Burial was in St. Joseph 's cemetery, Carnegie. Former Mt. Pleasant Twp. Resident Killed Sept. 4 A former resident of Mt. Pleasant township was instantly killed Saturday afternoon when struck by a bolt of lightning while engaged in farm work near his home at R. D. 3, New Castle. The victim was Elmore McCarrell DINSMORE, 40, son of Walker and Ann MCCARRELL DINSMORE, who resided in Mt. Pleasant township for many years. He was born August 15, 1903, in Jefferson county, Ohio. In addition to his parents, he is survived by one brother and three sisters: James Howard DINSMORE, U. S. Army, California; Ruth DINSMORE, Mt. Pleasant; Sarah, the wife of William HEAGAN, and Dorothy DINSMORE both of Ezel, Ky. John Y. DINSMORE of Hickory is an uncle.
