JEFFREY DIES FROM A STROKE Uniontown, April 23---Dr Robert H JEFFREY, 48 years old, one of the best known physicians in Fayette County, died at 4 55 o’clock this morning at Uniontown Hospital. He had collapsed at a local theatre at 8 30 o’clock last night and was taken to the hospital. He revived and was able to talk for a time with members of his family. At midnight he lapsed into unconsciousness and never rallied. Death was attributed to a cerebral hemorrhage. Dr JEFFREY enlisted in the British Medical Corps and was captured near the close of the World War, being in a German prison camp at the time of Armistice. Dr JEFFREY was born at Grove City December 26, 1888, and was a graduate of Jefferson Medical College in 1912, served an internship in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburg, and located in Uniontown in 1913. For seven months he was attached to the Second Royal Irish Regiment in the World War and was captured by the Germans and held a prisoner for eight months. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, a daughter, Lucille, and a son, Robert, Jr. WILLIAM TAYLOR COAL-COKE OPERATOR DIES OF HEART ATTACK William TAYLOR, 76 years old, probably one of the most widely known coal men of Fayette County, died suddenly at 9 o’clock Wednesday night at his home in Masontown following a heart attack. Born at Oldham, December 24, 1859, Mr TAYLOR was a son of the late Joseph and Ann BESWICK TAYLOR. He came to America in his boyhood and throughout his life was engaged in the coal and coking business. For a number of years he served as superintendent for the H C Frick Coke Company in the northern part of the region but since March 15, 1903, had been associated with George and Harry WHYEL at their Mt Sterling and Grays Landing plants in the capacity of superintendent and chief clerk. He was one the oldest and most active member of the Masontown Methodist Episcopal Church, the Knights of Pythias and Royal Archanum. Mr TAYLOR is survived by his wife, Mrs Ida E TAYLOR; five children. MRS ISAPHINE SIMERAL Mrs Isaphine COLLINS SIMERAL, 73 years old, widow of JD SIMERAL, died Wednesday at the home of a daughter, Mrs Charles AKERWALL in McKeesport. Mr SIMERAL preceded his wife in death in 1922. The family for many years resided at Juanita. The funeral service will be held Friday night at 8 o’clock in the Edmonson-Striffler chapel at McKeesport. Burial will be made in Versailles Cemetery Saturday morning. JOSEPH FRIEDBERG Joseph FRIEDBERG of Atlantic City, formerly of Uniontown, died suddenly Tuesday afternoon in Miami Beach, Fla, where he had gone for his health. He was a brother of CI FRIEDBERG, owner of the People’s Furniture Company at Uniontown. Harry and Maurice FRIEDBERG, both of Uniontown, are also brothers. HARRY H FISHER Greensburg, April 23---Harry H FISHER, 69 years old, one of the best known attorneys of the Westmoreland County Bar and a longtime resident of Greensburg, died at 10 o’clock Wednesday night following an illness of three months. MATTHEW OSTROWSKI Solemn high mass of requiem will be celebrated Saturday morning at 10 30 o’clock at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church on the West Side for Matthew OSTROWSKI of West View, Pittsburg, a former resident of Connellsville. Rev Wenceslaus WISNIEWSKI, pastor, will celebrate the mass, assisted by Rev M DRELAK and Rev J ROKOSZ. Burial will be made in the church cemetery at Poplar Grove. Mr OSTROWSKI, who was 75 years of age, is survived by three daughters, two of them are in the religious order of the Sisters of the Holy Ghost---Sister M Rita and Sister M Ladislaus---and Anna OSTROWSKI and three sons, Walter OSTROWSKI of Monongahela, Anthony OSTROWSKI and Frank OSTROWSKI of Edenborn. EDWARD SENOR’S FUNERAL The funeral service for Edward SENOR, former Dunbar resident, whose death occurred at his home in Harrison City, near McKeesport, will be held there at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon. Interment will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. JOHN H CLEMENTS Greensburg, April 23---The funeral service for John Harrison CLEMENTS, 46 years old, who died suddenly Wednesday morning, will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at his home. Interment will be made in Monongahela Cemetery. MATTHEW SMITH The funeral for Matthew SMITH of 1231 Woodlawn avenue was held Wednesday morning with the cortege meeting at the late home followed by high requiem mass at St Stephen’s Greek Catholic Church at Leisenring No 1. Rev Father Ivan P ROMZA, pastor, officiated. Interment was made in the church cemetery. ISAAC PRETTYMAN’S FUNERAL The funeral services for Isaac PRETTYMAN was held Wednesday afternoon at the late home near Leisenring No 3 with Rev William S HAMILTON of Dunbar and Rev David E MINERD of Connellsville officiating. Walter CLABAUGH and Roy O CLABAUGH sang with Mrs Walter CLABAUGH as accompanist. Interment was made in Hill Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were John LAMBIE, Thomas GRAHAM, Ellis WORTHINGTON, William J STEWART, William VAN HEFFNER and Edward COLE.
