BARRY TREW, rifle champion, coach R Barry TREW, 55, of Orbisonia, Huntingdon County, formerly of Bentleyville, died unexpectedly Monday, March 30, 1992, in Orbisonia. Born March 14, 1937, in North Charleroi, he was the son of the late Charles W and Evelyn HAWKINS TREW. Mr TREW was co-owner of TREW’S Sports Shop in Bentleyville and TREW’S Distributor in Waynesburg. He was a graduate of Washington and Jefferson College and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Bentleyville. Mr TREW was also a member of the National Rifle Association, Pittsburgh Suburban Rifle League, Green Mountain Rifle League and the Allegheny Valley Rifle League. He was the coach of McGuffy and Washington high school rifle teams and rifle coach of teams at Washington and Jefferson College and St Francis College. He was the first man to become a four-time All-American and NCAA rifle champion. Mr TREW was also national rifle champion in 1956, 1963, 1964 and 1969. He also held several Pennsylvania state rifle championships. During the 1960 Olympics in Rome, Italy, he was alternate on the US Rifle Team. Mr TREW was recently elected to and will be inducted in May to the Washington-Greene County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Hall of Fame. He is survived by his wife, Rose PLOVIC TREW, three sons, Dean TREW and Gregg TREW, both of Bentleyville RD 1, and Daniel TREW, at home; two sisters, Mrs William (Margaret) SAHADY of Brownsville and Mrs Gene (Patricia) COLLARETTI of Palm City, Fla; one brother, C Jack TREW of Bentleyville; several nieces and nephews; and his first wife, Jean DORMO of Bentleyville. Friends will be received this evening form 7 to 9 pm in the Martin Brown Funeral Home in Orbisonia and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to9 pm in the Kenneth V Thompson Funeral Home, 809 Main St, Bentleyville. Interment will be in Monongahela Cemetery. LUCAS Andrew J (Buster) Lucas Jr, 67, of RD 3 Many, La, died Sunday, March 29, 1992, in Schempert Medical Center, Schreveport, La. He was born Jan 19, 1923, in Monongahela, a son of the late Andrew J and Blanche CALMUS LUCAS Sr. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps, having been served in World War II. He was formerly employed by the US Steel Donora and Fairless Hills works. A former Monongahela resident, he resided in Louisiana for 20 years. He was Protestant by faith. Survivors include his wife, Marion B ERNEST; one sister, Evelyn LUCAS TIMKO of Monongahela; several nieces and nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sister, Vivian ANDERSON in 1990, and Florence GILCHRIST in 1990. Friends will be received Tuesday from 7 to 9 pm and Wednesday fro 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm in the LM Frye Funeral Home Inc, 427 West Main St, Monongahela. Burial will be in Monongahela Cemetery. KENNEWEG Leathe Kenneweg, 91, of Brownsville, died Monday, March 30, 1992, in her home. Mrs KENNEWEG was born Dec 5, 1900, in Belle Vernon, a daughter of the late James M and Alice LUCE WARD. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Brownsville, and was also a member of the Brownsville Senior Citizen’s and Brownsville Women’s Club. In addition to his parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Earl KENNEWEG, by a son, Earl, and by three sisters, Dorothy REED, Blanche BONUCCI and Virginia MARTIN. Surviving are one daughter, Carole PROVANCE, of Brownsville; one daughter-in-law, Barbara KENNEWEG, of Virginia Beach, Va; five grandchildren, Earl KENNEWEG, Kimberly ONESKO, Eric KENNEWEG, Sherri SUTHERLAND, Chris KENNEWEG and Anna KENNEWEG; and seven great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Tuesday from 6 to 9 pm and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 pm in the Andrew J Skirpan Funeral Home, 135 Park St, Brownsville. VETTER John Vetter, 77, of Charleroi RD 2, Fallowfield Township, died suddenly Tuesday, March 31, 1992 at 7 16 am in the emergency of Mon Valley Hospital Inc, Carroll Township. CROYTS Lucille CROYTS, 59, of McKeesport, formerly of Monongahela, died Saturday, March 28, 1992, in McKeesport Hospital, following a lingering illness. She was born Oct 27, 1932, in Monongahela, a daughter of John and Blanche DICIENZO CURCIO of Charleroi. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs Paul (Charla) MEAD of Turtle Creek and Sandra GORDON of McKeesport, with whom she resided; one son, George CROYTS of Maryland; two brothers, Robert CHARNACK of Charleroi and John CHARNACK of Valaparaiso, Ind; four sisters, Mrs Bill (Jessie) PIPER of Grovertown, Ind, Mrs Lou (Avy) CARDEN of Hobart, Ind, Mrs Steve (Deanna) BEWSZKA of Apollo and Linda HOPTON of Columbus, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Dale CROYTS. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm in Craigs Funeral Home, Versailles Avenue, McKeesport, where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 am. STEER Iva MCFALL STEER, 74, of 601 Westgate Manor, Monessen, died Monday, March 30, 1992, in Mon Valley Hospital, Carroll Township, following a lengthy illness. She was born May 26, 1917, in Belle Vernon, a daughter of the late Arlie and Melissa HENDRICKSON MCFALL. Mrs STEER was a lifelong resident of Monessen, where she was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy LAYTON of Monessen, a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Don ZENOBI of Monessen; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs William (Mildred) ROSE of Monessen and Grace MCCORKEL of Swissvale; two brothers, Thomas MCFALL of Elgin, Ill and Glenn MCFALL of Bridgeville; nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas STEER, in 1982; a son, Thomas, in 1957; and a sister, Nellie BASIM. Friends will be received Tuesday from 7 to 9 pm and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm in the Rhome Funeral Home Inc, 1209 Grand Blvd, Monessen. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. CARUSO Robert “Rumba” CARUSO, 67, of Charleroi, died Monday, March 30, 1992, at 3 45 am in Mon Valley Hospital, Carroll Township. He was born June 12, 1924, in Ellsworth, a son of the late Gregory and JoAnne Marie TARULLO CARUSO. Mr Caruso was a US Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of St Jerome Roman Catholic Church, VFW Post 167 and American Legion Post 22, all of Charleroi. Mr CARUSO was a retired inspector for Columbia Gas Company. Survivors include his wife, Eleanor HARGER CARUSO; two sons, James CARUSO, serving with the US Navy in Charleston, SC, and Leonard CARUSO of Charleroi; one daughter, Marian RUSILKO of Charleroi; three grandchildren, Amber and Ladden RUSILKO and Kristen CARUSO; one brother, Eugene CARUSO of Florida; and one sister, Sara CARUSO of Charleroi. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mary PAPPALUCA; and six brothers, Joseph, Alfred, Anthony, Patsy, Otto and Frank CARUSO. Friends will be received Tuesday from 7 to 9 pm and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm in the Carl J Spallino Funeral Home, 819 Fallowfield Ave, Charleroi. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Township. GRAY Wayne GRAY, 75, of 514 Reliance Ave, Brownsville (Denbo Heights), died at 9 pm, Sunday, March 29, 1992, in Uniontown Hospital. Mr GRAY was born Oct 13, 1916, in Vanderbilt, a son of the late Arthur and Ida STRANGROOM GRAY. In 1971, he retired from Monessen Southwestern Railroad, where he had been employed for 30 years. Mr GRAY was a member of the Taylor United Methodist Church, Centerville, and the United Steel Workers of America. On Aug 9, 1939, he married Tresia POUNDS GRAY, who survives. He and his wife bowled in the mixed couples Guys and Dolls League in Bentleyville for 23 years. Also surviving are one son, Barry B GRAY, of Uniontown; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald and Russell GRAY, both of Charleroi; three sisters, Mary MORGAN of Charleroi, Ruby KUZAR of Connellsville and Berneda WHORIC of .Leisenring; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are two sons, Bruce GRAY, who died in infancy, and Larry GRAY, who died May 17, 1990; and one brother, Edward GRAY. There will be no viewing or visitation. Private burial will be in Charleroi Cemetery.
