RANKIN, DONALDSON, THOMASSY, CHIFF, DONNELLY, HERRIOTT, PAGE Mrs. Martha FISHER RANKIN, 82, died at 1: 20 a.m. Tuesday, August 3, 1943, in her home in Elizabeth township, near McKeesport. Mrs. RANKIN was born on the FISHER farm in North Fayette township, R. D. 1, McDonald, now occupied by the Frank O. GAMBLES. Her husband, Samuel Wakefield RANKIN died about five years ago. She is survived by one son and five daughters: Russell R. RANKIN of Elizabeth township, Anna Mary, wife of Ray MCCANDLESS of R. D. 1, Oakdale; Emma, the wife of Frank O. GAMBLE of R. D. 1, McDonald; Alva, the wife of W. T. ABLE of Library; Olive, the wife of Harper CAMPBELL, with whom she make her home, and Mrs. Grace ROEMER of Elizabeth township. There are fourteen grandchildren. A daughter Martha, the wife of William RHOADES of Elizabeth township died about eighteen years ago. Funeral services are being held this Thursday afternoon. Burial in Mt. Vernon cemetery. Miss Sarah Campbell DONALDSON, 82, died suddenly at 3:10 p.m. Friday, July 30, 1943, in her home in Midway. She was born April 16, 1861, in the DONALDSON homestead, Robinson township, the daughter of John M. and Martha BIGGER DONALDSON. Miss DONALDSON was an active member of the Center United Presbyterian church at Midway and belonged to the Rei Bible class and the Women's Missionary society. She is survived by her brother, Dr. H. H. DONALDSON of Pittsburgh, and two sisters, Mrs. T. A. MILLER of Bellevue and Mrs. Robert BAMFORD of Midway. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the DONALDSON home, conducted by the Rev. S. A. MCCOLLAM, D. D., pastor of the First United Presbyterian church, McDonald, assisted by the Rev. Walter RALSTON, pastor of the Tabernacle United Presbyterian church, Youngstown, Ohio. Burial was in Robinson's Run cemetery. George E. THOMASSY, 61, died at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 1, 1943, in his home, 20 Elm street, Burgettstown, after an illness of several months. Mr. THOMASSY, a son of the late Thomas and Julia WATHIER THOMASSY, was born March 5, 1882 at McDonald. For the last 32 years he was a business man in Burgettstown. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian church and the Masonic lodge. On October 17, 1910, he married Olive L. LIGGETT, at Independence. She survives, with the following children: Major George E. THOMASSY, Jr., in the Army medical corps, and now stationed in Australia; Mrs. Lois SCOTT and Miss Helen THOMASSY of Burgettstown, and Mrs. Jean MURPHY of Avalon. There are four grandchildren, George E. THOMASSY III, Philip SCOTT and Barbara and James MURPHY. Mrs. Seal BAGUET of Hays, Mrs. George GILLESPIE of Swissvale, Mrs. E. T. ROBERT of McDonald, and Mrs. George YOUNG of Wilkinsburg are sisters. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the THOMASSY home, conducted by the Rev. R. C. SUTTON, pastor of the First United Presbyterian church, Burgettstown. Burial was in the Independence cemetery. Mrs. Laura CANONGE CHIFF, 49, of R. D. 4, McDonald, died at 6:05 p.m., Friday, July 30, 1943, in St. Francis hospital, Pittsburgh, following a two0week illness. A daughter of Clovis and Madeline PLATON CANONGE, she was born May 19, 1894, in McDonald, and had spent her entire life in this locality. She is survived by two sons: Willis CHIFF of Barr street, McDonald, and Earl CHIFF, stationed with the navy at Norfolk, Va.: a daughter, Miss Betty CHIFF, at home. Her husband, Gustave CHIFF, was killed in an automobile accident in May, 1924. Other survivors are her mother, Mrs. Clovis CANONGE; four sisters: Alice, the wife of Joseph SALMON, Margaret, the wife of Arthur DAVIS, Ezra, the wife of Joseph BOULANGER, all of Midway, and Clemmie, the wife of William JACKSON of Burgettstown, and four brothers: Marshall CANONGE of Sewickley, Roger CANONGE of Ambridge, Danton CANONGE of Raccoon, Edmond CANONGE of Houston, and George CANONGE of Dearborn, Mich. There are three grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the CHOFF home, conducted by the Rev. Philip HORNE, pastor of the Midway Baptist church. Burial was in Center cemetery, Midway. Pvt. Leo F. DONNELLY, 23 of 205 East Lincoln avenue, McDonald, died at 9:45 p.m. Sunday, August 2, 1943, in the Veterans hospital, Aspinwall, following a nine-month illness of septicemia. A son of John J. and Grace MCCAFFREY SONNELLY, he was born October 18, 1919, in McDonald and attended school here. Five years ago he moved to Weirton, W. Va., and graduated from St. Paul's Catholic school He was employed at the Weirton still mill until his induction into the army about two years ago. He served for nineteen months in the medical detachment of the army at Sheppard field, Amarilla (sic), Texas. Private DONNELLY was a member of the Altar society of St. Alphonsus church, McDonald. Besides his parents, he is survived by five brothers: Hugh A DONNELLY, John P. DONNELLY, and Edward G. DONELLY, all three of Weirton, W. Va., Joseph A. DONNELLY of Cleveland, Ohio, and Thomas R. DONNELLY of Jewett, Ohio; four sisters: Mrs. Cecil RAINEY of Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. Floyd MOORE of Martins Ferry, Ohio, Mrs. Wilson BOVE of Weirton, W. Va., and Miss Mary Elizabeth DONNELLY at home. The funeral was held this Thursday morning with requiem high mass at St. Alphonsus church, McDonald, by the Rev. Fr. J. A. BURGOON. Burial was in Robinson's Run cemetery. James Morgan HERRIOTT, 80, died suddenly Thursday morning, July 29, 1943, in his home, 29, Fayette street, Oakdale. A son of William and Sarah MORGAN HERRIOTT, he was born September 23, 1862, in Washington county and had been a resident of Oakdale since 1887. Mr. HERRIOTT had been a farmer until his retirement several years ago. He was a member of the First Presbyterian church, Oakdale. He is survived by two daughters: Mrs. J. G. STURGEON of Oakdale and Mrs. William F. WILLIAMS of Meadville; two brothers: Howard HERRIOTT and Samuel HERRIOTT, both of Hickory. There are three grandchildren. His wife, the former Mary MCCLOY, died September 3, 1924. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the First Presbyterian church, Oakdale, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Carlyle CARSON. Burial was in the Oakdale cemetery. Mrs. Laurine COUCH PAGE, 47, of Cheswick up the Allegheny river, died suddenly at 12:30 a.m. Friday, July 30, 1943, in the West Penn hospital, Pittsburgh. A daughter of the late George Mack and Mary Ann CARSON COUCH, she was born in June of 1896 in McDonald. The family resided here for a number of years and then moved to Cherry Valley, where they resided until 26 years ago, when they moved to Cheswick. She is survived by her husband, Joseph PAGE of Cheswick; three sons: Joseph PAGE, Jr., of Newark, N. J., and Robert and Hultz PAGE, both at home; four daughters: Georgeann, Loraine, Elinor, and Ann PAGE, all four at home; three brothers: Hultz COUCH of Cheswick and Robert COUCH, the latter an Allegheny county detective, of Oakmont; two sisters: Mrs. Joseph MIDDLEMAS and Miss Ruby COUCH, both of Oakmont, Mrs. A. B. COCHRAN of McDonald is an aunt.
