    3. McDonald Outlook DEATH OF JOHN D. REED John D. Reed, well known to all old Cecil people, died at his home near Canonsburg on the 31st. ult. He was a of David Reed, (sic), known as "Stonehouse Davy" Reed, who owned what is now the Cubbage place, south of town. The first wife of deceased was a daughter of Mr. Jacob George. A brother of John D., James Reed, inherited the Cubbage farm, and he, wishing to go into the oil business, sold this farm for $40 an acre and went to Oil City, where he lived the rest of his life, never dreaming of the wealth of oil that had lain under his feet in old Cecil, The farm he sold is now covered with derricks.
