    3. ELLIOTT, JOHNSON, PORTER, SCHWEIGER, MANSON, STEPHENSON, SANNEY, INGLEFIELD, CAIN Wilson L. ELLIOTT, 80, died at 10 o'clock Sunday night, June 28, 1936, in Hillsview sanitarium, Washington. He was born January 16, 1956, on the WHITMORE farm, north of Oakdale, in North Fayette township, Allegheny county, a son of Morgan and Mary WALKER ELLIOTT. When Wilson was one year old the family moved to the ELLIOTTT farm one mile north of McDonald. He was the last of three brothers and four sisters. His father died December 28, 1888, and his mother May 9, 1892. A sister, Mary Elizabeth, died at the age of 16, March 2, 1860; a brother, James M. June 20, 1917; a sister, Mrs. Isabelle E. FIFE, August 14, 1921; a sister, Mrs. Louisa E. PATTERSON, March 29, 1925; a brother, Joseph Walker ELLIOTT, January 1, 1926, and a sister, Mrs. Hulda A FIFE, October 4, 1930. Mr. ELLIOTT was united in marriage with Lizzie Lila PEASE of Washington, October 15, 1891. In 1903 they left the farm and moved into the residence which they built at the corner of West Lincoln avenue and Fifth street, McDonald, and they have resided here ever since. Mr. ELLIOTT was a quiet unobtrusive citizen, a member of the First United Presbyterian church of McDonald, and a life long Democrat. He had many friends who esteemed him for his integrity and unvarying courtesy. His wife, a son, Thomas Morgan, and a daughter, Mary, the wife of Guy a MCWREATH, all of McDonald, survive him. There are seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon in the home in charge of the Rev. S. A. MCCOLLAM. Burial was in Robinson's Run cemetery, where his parents are buried. Ernest Stark JOHNSON, 51, died at 11:00 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 136, in his home in Fourth street of encephalitis. He had been In ill health for nine years. A son of the late Jesse N. and Mary Jane STARK JOHNSON, he was born May 23, 1885, in Steubenville, Ohio. He attended the Stark school. On September 20, 1911, he was united in marriage to Frances Willard HENTHORNE. The ceremony took place in Cadiz, Ohio, the bride's father, the Rev. Dr. C. B. HENTHORNE, officiating. He had resided in Cadiz, Ohio, Steubenville, Ohio, and fifteen years ago came to McDonald, conducting a clothing store here until ill health compelled him to give it up. He was a member of the IOOF and had been secretary and treasurer of the Hamilin Methodist church for six years, and was treasurer of the McDonald Methodist church for several years. Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Mary Catherine, the wife of Charles L. GOODMAN, Jr., of New Castle, and Frances Elizabeth, at home. The following brothers and sisters also survive: Mrs. Paul ADAMS of Cadiz, Ohio, Miss Harriett JOHNSON of Pittsburgh, Charles JOHNSON of Follansbee, W. Va., Mrs. Scott DEMITT and Miss Mae JOHNSON of Steubenville. On brother, Frank JOHNSON, is dead. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in his late home, the Rev. L. C. MATHHEWS of the McDonald Methodist church officiating. Burial was in Cadiz, Ohio. Relatives and friends at the funeral from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. W. H. CAMPBELL and children of Kingsville, Ohio, C. B. HENTHORNE and children of Pittsburgh, Miss Harriet JOHNSON of Pittsburgh, Mrs. C. B. HENTHORNE of Martins Ferry, Ohio, Mrs. Paul ADAMS of Cadiz, Ohio, Charles JOHNSON of Wellsburg, W. Va., George JOHNSON of Follansbee, W. Va., Mrs. Scott DEMITT and Miss Mae JOHNSON of Steubenville. Mrs. Uenia SMITH PORTER, 79, died of pneumonia Saturday morning, June 27, 1936, in the Magee hospital, Pittsburgh. Mrs. PORTER, a sister of Mrs. S. H. COOK of Johns avenue, had been in failing health since last fall. Her death was hastened by a fracture of a leg suffered when she fell while in the hospital. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in her old home in Negley avenue, Pittsburgh, conducted by her pastor, the Rev. Dr. W. J. REID of the First United Presbyterian church, Pittsburgh, who was assisted by the Rev. Dr. Oscar E. GARDNER of the First Presbyterian church, McDonald. Both attested to her lovable Christian character. One of her former neighbors writes: "We mourn the loss of a dear friend and extend to her relatives our loving sympathy. It was a grace to have known Mrs. PORTER." Mrs. Ruth SCHWEIGER, 36, wife of Lawrence J. SCHWEIGER of the Northside, Pittsburgh, died Wednesday, June 24, 1936, in the Allegheny General hospital, Pittsburgh, from injuries sustained when she was struck early Tuesday morning by an automobile. A daughter of Robert and the late Agnes COOK, she was born May 8, 1900, in McDonald. Besides her husband and father, she is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Amy, the wife of William LABELLE of Trenton, Mich.; Gladys, the wife of Jack E. WILLIAMS of Hardin, Mo.; Herbert COOK, Robert COOK, Jr., and John COOK, all of McDonald. She is a granddaughter of Mrs. Amy CASE of Fannie street, McDonald. Funeral services were held Saturday from her late home in East Ohio street, Pittsburgh, conducted by the Rev Mr. WYND, pastor of the Northside Lutheran church, assisted by the Rev. S. A. MCCOLLAM, pastor of the First U. P. church, McDonald. Burial was in the Robinson's Run cemetery, McDonald. John R. MANSON, 48, died at 7:10 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 1936, in the Washington hospital, following an illness of three weeks. Mr. MANSON for the past seven years had been a resident of Washington. He was born near West Middletown in 1887, a son of the late J. B. and Emma MCCALMONT MANSON. He received his early education I the Hopewell township schools, later attending Hickory academy and Westminster college, where he was graduated in 1913. In 1915 he married Ethel WATT of Ben Avon, who survives. After his marriage, he engaged in business in Avella, later removing to Hickory and teaching for three years in the schools of Mount Pleasant township. He was active in County Sunday school association work. Surviving are his wife and three children, Esther, 19; Janet, 16, and Robert, 11, all at home. He had no other close relatives. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the home in Acheson avenue, Washington, in charge of his pastor, the Rev. A. W. WISHART. Burial was in the West Middletown cemetery. Mrs. John R. STEPHENSON, 80, a lifelong resident of Hanover township, died June 24, 1936 in the home of her daughter, Mrs. D. L. FERGUSON in Paris, with whom she made her home. Her husband died in May 1929. The following children survive: Fred STEPENSON of Steubenville, Frank STEPHENSON of Paris, James STEPHENSON of Weirton, W.Va., Clark STEPHENSON of Chicago, and Mrs. FERGUSON of Paris. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the home of Frank STEPHENSON in Paris. Burial was in Chestnut Ridge cemetery. Charles L. SANNEY, 56, of Rutan, died at 5:55 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 1936, in the Greene County Memorial hospital. A son of George and Ella MILLS SANNEY, he was born December 11, 1879, in Oil City. He was united in marriage to Sarah Pearl DOUGLASS of Sturgeon, who survives him, with one daughter, Mrs. Cecil SIMPSON of Dawson, Yukon Territory, Canada, and two grandchildren, Jack and Jeanne Marie SIMPSON. He is also survived by two brothers, Fred L. and James A. SANNEY of Hundred, W. Va., and a sister, Mrs. Emma Anderson of Clarksburg, W. Va. Mr. SANNEY had spent his life in the oil and gas fields and moved to Greene county about twenty0five years ago. He was well known throughout that county and among gas and oil workers in Western Pennsylvania. He was a member of the South Ten Mile Baptist church, Woodmen of the World, and the Elks lodge. Funeral services were held Tuesday from his late home with further services in the Methodist Protestant church, Rogersville with the Rev. Thomas PRESNELL, assisted by the Rev. Harry M. PETERSON, officiating. Burial was in the Rosemont cemetery. Second article on Mr. SANNEY, same newspaper, same date Scalds Kill Oil Man Near Waynesburg Charles L. SANNEY, 67, an oil operator at Rutan, Greene county, died late Saturday night after being scalded in a boiler house on an oil lease near his home. A bushing broke, which released steam over his body. He died in the Memorial hospital, Waynesburg. He was a native of Oil City. His wife, the former Pearl DOUGLAS of Sturgeon and one daughter survive. *Compiler's note: There are differences in spellings of names between the two articles and in Mr. Sanney's age. William W. INGLEFIELD, 79, died at 8 o'clock Monday morning, June 29, 1936, in his home in Murdocksville. Mr. INGLEFIELD is survived by his wife, Elizabeth ARMOR INGLEFIELD and a daughter, Anna the wife of A. M. BOLSER. Funeral services were held in the home Wednesday afternoon in charge of his pastor, the Rev. Samuel G. NEAL of the Hebron Presbyterian church. Burial was in the Hebron cemetery. Mrs. Cora Adda CAIN, 63, wife of William CAIN of Clinton, died at 12:15 Friday morning, June 26, 1936, in the Sewickley Valley hospital. Death was caused by septicemia following a quinsy (sic) operation. Mrs. CAIN had been a resident of Clinton all her married life, and was a faithful member of the Clinton U. P. Church and the Women's Missionary society. She had been poorly all winter. She was taken to the hospital Thursday and did not regain consciousness after the operation. Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Mrs. Bessie CLARK of Pontiac, Mich., and Mrs. Argol WORRELL of Clinton, two sons, Charles CAIN of Ambridge and Arthur CAIN of Clinton. Two grandchildren are at home. She is also survived by two sistes, Mrs. Geore CAIN, and Mrs. Maggie CAIN, and five brothers, Lee GROOM, HarryGROOM, and Alfred GROOM of Mars, Frank GROOM of Canton, Ohio, and Amous GROOM of Beaver Falls. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Clinton U.P. church, the Rev. Theodore CARLBERG officiating.
