Mrs. Sara MCCALMONT MCCLURE, a former resident of Midway, died on Sunday, May 16, at her home in Berkley, California. She was a daughter of James and Sara MCBURNEY MCCALMONT, and was born near Candor, Robinson township. She was educated at the Beech Hollow school and at the age of 16 years she started to teach. Among other places she taught at Burgettstown and Monongahela. Many will remember her as an elocutionist and she taught at California normal and Shippensburg normal. It was at the former place she met her husband, W. F. MCCLURE, who survives her. She was an active worker in the Methodist Episcopal church. Besides her husband she is survived by the following children: Mrs. Eva MAHONEY of Oakland, Cal.; Mrs. Mary ROBINSON of Merced, Cal., and Miss Kathryn MCCLURE at home. There also survive two brothers and one sister, J. Al MCCALMONT of Houston; D. A. MCCALMONT, of Midway, and Mrs. Esther Agnes MCNAB of York, New York, and four granddaughters.
