    3. >From the Pittsburgh Press dated December 31 1898: Prof JAMES PRYOR died at his home, Perrysville and Daisy avenues, yesterday morning in the seventy-seventh year of his age. Prof Pryor was one of the most prominent men in the school circles of Allegheny county. He was the first county superintendent of this county. In 1855, when he was scarcely 17 years old, he taught his first school. He had been principal in the First, Second, Fifth and Ninth wards of Pittsburg, his last charge being the Second ward school, which he relinquished in 1889 on account of his advanced years. He numbered among his pupils Senator C L Magee and other prominent men of this city. He was deeply learned in classic lore, and spoke the Latin tongue fluently. His memory remained intact almost to the hour of his death, and a few days previous he quoted lines from the classics, to the surprise of his friends. His wife died three years ago. Six children, one of whom is Mrs Seth Hendricks, of Glenfield, mourn his loss. Funeral services will be held at his late home this evening, and the interment will be private at Blackburn cemetery, Sewickley, tomorrow. _________________________________________________________________ Get FREE company branded e-mail accounts and business Web site from Microsoft Office Live http://clk.atdmt.com/MRT/go/mcrssaub0050001411mrt/direct/01/
