    3. MCCALMONT Following an operation in the West Penn hospital Thursday, John Proudfit MCCALMONT died Sunday morning at 11 o'clock. He had been in poor health for the past two years and had gone to the hospital but a few days ago for treatment. He did not revive after the operation. Funeral services were held from the Hickory United Presbyterian church Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Charles STUNKARD. Following the services the body was taken to Wellsville, Ohio, for interment in the Springhill cemetery. Mr. MCCALMONT was a native of Mt. Pleasant township and was born on the old MCCALMONT homestead near Hickory February 8, 1852. He was one of a family of eleven children, being the oldest son of Alexander and Mary MCCALMONT. He spent his early boyhood in his native township and on October 14, 1879, was united in marriage with Sara Florence GLASS of Burgettstown, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James GLASS. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. MCCALMONT resided at Wellsville for a number of years. Later they went to Almagorda, New Mexico, where they since had lived. Mr. MCCALMONT came to Hickory about two years ago to live with his brother, Samuel, as the climatic conditions of the National Capital did not agree with him. He had gradually declined until it was necessary to have an operation. Seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. MCCALMONT four of whom survive besides Mrs. MCCALMONT. They are: James Addison MCCALMONT, of Marshall, Texas; Ancel G. MCCALMONT, Decatur, Ill.; Charles R. MCCALMONT and Harold MCCALMONT of Lowell, Arizona. He is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Van Eman LINDSEY, Mrs. W. E. LANE, Mrs. W. J. CONNER, Washington; Samuel A. MCCALMONT, Hickory; James A MCCALMONT, near Buffalo Village; Mrs. J. B. MANSON, Rea; A. Lincoln MCCALMONT, Pittsburgh; Mrs. William A. MCBURNEY, Crafton, and Mrs. Maud MCCABE, West Middletown. Mr. MCCALMONT was a Republican in politics and a member of the United Presbyterian denomination. He was known as one of the old-time singing teachers and held singing schools throughout this section.
