GRIMM, BEATTIE, HEINRICH, THOMAS Hickory, Sept. 14--Harry R. GRIMM aged 32 years, of Southview, a brakeman employed on the Montour railroad, was instantly killed at 8:30 o'clock this morning, while working at Coraopolis junction. Particulars as to how he met his death have not been received here. He was a son of Scott GRIMM, of Deep Valley, Greene county, and was born in that county coming to Washington county 15 years ago. Twelve years ago he was married to Miss Bertha FIELDS, who survives him, with two children, Mildred, aged 10 years and Edna nine years. His father, four brothers and three sisters also survive. Funeral services will be held at his late home in Southview Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Charles STUNKARD, pastor of the Hickory United Presbyterian church. The interment will be in the Venice cemetery. V. B. BEATTIE received word from Ireland that his brother, Col. BEATTIE had died very suddenly. The barracks where he was stationed caught fire and Mr. BEATTIE rushed to rescue some of the men who were trapped, when he fell from the second floor. She was formerly of McKees Rocks, her parents living there now. At one time she worked in one of the Pittsburgh department stores, drawing a salary of $3.00 per week. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Robert Henry COOK died Sunday, September 5, 1920 at 1:45 p.m. Mr. COOK formerly resided in Bridgeville, but his present home was in Pittsburgh. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Bethany Presbyterian church at 2:30 o'clock. Interment was at Bridgeville. James MULLIGAN, aged 53 years, died Tuesday evening, September 1 in the Mercy hospital. He leaves two sisters, Mrs. J. B. LAWLER and Mrs. Catherine MONAHAN of Homewood and five brothers, William and Martin of Detroit, John of Bulger and Thomas and Patrick of McDonald. Funeral service was held in St. Alphonsus' church Saturday morning and interment was made in the Noblestown cemetery. Margaret Grace NANGLE, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Winfield NANGLE, of Fifth street died at the home of Mrs. NANGLE's parents in Wellsburg, W. Va., on Friday evening. She was eight years old. Mr. and Mrs. NANGLE and two children, Margaret Grace and Winfield had been visiting at Wellsburg when both children took sick. Winfield, it was thought, would not recover, but at present is doing nicely. The body of Margaret Grace was brought to McDonald Tuesday afternoon and services were held at the grave in Robinson's Run cemetery at 2 o'clock in charge of Rev. B. B. HARRISON. The death of Mrs. Mary CROSS occurred at six o'clock Sunday morning, September 5, 1920, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George HAMMERLY, in Third street. Death was due to heart trouble, from which she had been suffering the past two months. Had she lived another month, Mrs. CROSS would have completed her 72d year. She was born in Airdrie, Scotland, October 6, 1848. Her maiden name was MILLER. She was united in marriage with James WEIR, who died in 1878. Mrs. WEIR came to America about a year later with three children and located in McKean county, Pa. In 1883 she married Cornell CROSS, who died about twenty-seven years ago. Mrs. CROSS is survived by one daughter, Mrs. George HAMMERLY, of McDonald, two sons, John WEIR, of Ponca City, Okla., and Clarence CROSS, of McDonald; by twenty grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; also tow sisters, Misses Jessie and Helen MILLER in Airdrie, Scotland, and one brother, Jackson MILLER in Glasgow, Scotland. Funeral services were held at the HAMMERLY home Wednesday afternoon, in charge of the Rev. B. B. HARRISON of the First Presbyterian church, assisted by the Rev. W. D. IRONS, D. D., pastor of the First U. P. church. Interment was in Robinson's Run cemetery. Andrew C. FORINGER died at his home in Fourth street, McDonald, Pa., Thursday, September 3, 1920. He was born December 6, 1860 at Kaylor, Armstrong County, Pa. Mr. FORINGER was a widely known oil man. Previous to his coming to McDonald in 1891 he operated in the Bradford and McKean Co. oil fields and in Canonsburg and Washington, Pa. He was a charter member of Garfield Lodge No. 604, F. & A. M., Darius R. A. Chapter No. 294 of McDonald, a member of Syria Temple, A. A. O. N. M. S. of Pittsburgh, Pa. He was also a member of the firm, Douglass & Co., Druggists; was vice president of the Citizens Water Company. Funeral services were held at the home Sunday evening at eight o'clock in charge of Rev. J. H. DEBOLT, pastor of the M. E. church of this place, assisted by Rev. W. D. IRONS, D. D., pastor of the U. P. church. Interment took place at 2 o'clock Monday at East Brady in charge of the Masonic order. He leaves two sisters, Mrs. A. C. Mr. John MALOOLY of Primrose was buried last week in the Catholic cemetery in Noblestown. *Noblestown column Mrs. Mary Jane HOFFMAN SHARP, of North Side Pittsburgh, sister of G. W. HOFFMAN, Sr., of Noblestown, died suddenly at her home September 1st. Mrs. SHARP was ill only about five hours, having been engaged in her customary occupation of doing some of the family sewing in the early evening. Two physicians, who were called were undecided as to the cause of her sudden death, but were of the opinion that it was due to acute indigestion. Mrs. SHARP was born in Noblestown and lived here until her marriage to Richard SHARP of Allegheny City, and had made her home there since that time. At the time of her death she was in her seventy-ninth year. Previous to her marriage to Mr. SHARP she was a member of the Noblestown M. E. church, afterward transferring her membership to the North Avenue M. E. church of Allegheny, of which she was a member at the time of her death. Rev. WHITFIELD, of the Crafton M. SMITH, BENNETT, PETERSON, STURGEON Joseph SMITH died at his home in Valley street on Thursday, August 25. He was born in Strafford, England, September 23, 1850, and was married to Miss Elizabeth BRIDGE in 1872. They came to this country in 1879, locating in McDonald in 1899, where Mr. SMITH has since resided. His wife died Jan. 17, 1918. He was a miner. Mr. SMITH had been in poor health for some time. He is survived by two sons, John, of Monongahela and Walter at home; also one daughter, Ruth, at home. Funeral services were held at the home on Sunday afternoon in charge of Rev. J. H. DEBOLT, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church of this place. Interment was in Robinsons' Run cemetery. Irene BENNETT, 20 years old, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Saunders C. BENNETT, died early Thursday morning, August 25, 1920, at 15 minutes past the hour of midnight. Her death was due to kidney trouble. Irene was born June 5, 1900. Her life was spent in McDonald. She is survived by her parents, also two sisters and nine brothers. They are Viola, Pearl, Matthew, Clarence, Frank, Joseph, Theodore, Commodore, Donald, Jerome, and Saunders. Funeral services were held in the First Baptist church, Sunday at 2:00 p.m., in charge of the Rev. G. E. SALLIE. Hayes PETERSON died very suddenly Thursday, August 26th at about 9:30 o'clock. Mr. PETERSON had been in poor health for some time, but recently seemed much improved and his death was a great shock to his friends. A short service was held at his late home on Friday evening. The family left Saturday morning with the body, for interment at Neelyton, Pa. He is survived by his widow and daughter Marie, who have the sympathy of the community in their bereavement. *Rennerdale column The funeral services of Frank D. STURGEON was held in the Zelinople(sic) cemetery Sabbath afternoon, August 22nd, the remains arriving from France the day previous. Mr. STURGEON was of Fombell Beaver county, Pennsylvania, when the call came for service to his country. He enlisted with the Company from Zelinople and while in France was stricken with Cerobro (sic) Abscess and died in the hospital there. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert STURGEON, the former at one time a resident of Oakdale and a brother of Messrs. Joseph and Walter STURGEON. He is survived by his father, mother, brother and sister. 38 of his company attended the service. Those from here who attended were his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Walter STURGEON and cousins, Mr. and Mrs. William and Mr. and Mrs. Austin STURGEON and Messers. Wallace and Glen STURGEON. GILLESPIE, MCVICKER Eldersville, Aug. 20.--After a lingering illness of asthma and other complications, the death of James W. GILLESPIE, a life-long resident of Jefferson township, occurred at his home in Eldersville, Friday morning August 5, 1920. Mr. GILLESPIE was one of the township's best known citizens and had always been actively engaged in work or business in the community in which he lived. The earlier years of his life were spent in farming until the spring of 1883, when he moved to Eldersville, a year later going into the mercantile business at that place in which he continued until his death. During the Civil war he answered the call of his country by enlisting in 1864, when but 17 years of age, in Company L, Second Regiment, Pennsylvania Heavy Artillery, and served until the close of the war. Mr. GILLESPIE, who was a descendant of one of the earliest pioneers in this section, was the son of Nathaniel and Catherine JOHNSTON GILLESPIE, and was born on what is now known as the Winfield CUNINGHAM farm, August 26, 1847, thus being nearly 73 years of age at the time of his death. In March, 1870, he was married to Miss Caroline V. GILES, a school teacher of Independence township. She died December 28, 1870, at the birth of their daughter Carrie. On December 11, 1879, he was married to Miss Martha CORBIN, who survives with the following children. Charles, of Hubbard, O.; Mrs. Maude SHARDER, of Monessen; Mrs. Martha CLARK, of Cleveland, O., and Everet and Earnest, at home. Carrie and Etta, daughters, are deceased. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Margaret SMITH, of the state of Oregon. Funeral services which were largely attended were held on Saturday afternoon in the Methodist Protestant church of Eldersville, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Mr. MCKNIGHT. Interment was in the Eldersville cemetery. Monongahela, August 20.--At the Memorial hospital this morning about 5:30 occurred the death of John Leitch MCVICKER, one of the best known mining men in this section. Death was directly due to a fall which he sustained last December and which had confined him to the St. Francis hospital and later to the local hospital. He was born March 21, 1858, in Kilwinning, Ayrshire, Scotland. He was the oldest of ten children, seven of who survive. He was united in marriage on April 24, 1884, with Jean ALLEN, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John ALLEN, of Midway, and to this union nine children were born, Robin of Russelton; Alexander, of Creighton; John, of Cleveland; Thomas of Parnassus; Allan and Norman at home, and Margaret, Neil and James, deceased. He followed mining as a profession and held positions as foreman, superintendent, general superintendent and manager of mines for a period of 34 years. He was coal field expert for the Valley Camp Coal Company when he sustained the injury which caused his death. He was a member of the official examining board of this district for over twenty years and was also noted all through the river and Panhandle district for the schools of mining which he conducted. He was a member of the Presbyterian church, Oakdale Lodge 669, F. &. A. M., Royal Arch Chapter of Brownsville and McKean Commandery No. 80, Knights Templar. Together with his widow and the aforementioned children, eight grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters survive: William, Donora; James, Donora; Charles, Export, and Alexander, of this city; Mrs. William NEIL, Donora; Mrs. John CARROLL, New Kensington and Miss Mary, of Monongahela.

DIAMOND, GEORGE, WACKER, OGDEN James S. DIAMOND, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. James S. DIAMOND of Noblestown, died on Friday morning at 4:45 o'clock. Funeral services were held at the home on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of Rev. RITCHIE, pastor of the U. P. church of Noblestown. Interment was in the Robinson's Run cemetery. Mrs. A. Emma GEORGE, of Midway, died on Wednesday evening, August 11, 1920, after a short illness. She was a resident of the Primrose section for a number of years. From there, with her husband they located in Midway, Pa. Mr. GEORGE died 15 years ago. She is survived by an adopted daughter, Mrs. Bertha BAKER, wife of Robert L. BAKER of Beaver, Pa. Funeral services were held at the home of Robert DICKSON of Midway last Saturday at 2 p.m. Interment was in Center cemetery. Roy Miller WACKER died at his home on Saturday evening, July 24th, 1920, about 5:30 o'clock, of burns received when a playmate and Roy, on Friday evening attempted to fill a pit lamp with crude oil, from a jug, while the lamp was lighted. The jug exploded throwing the burning oil over Roy's body and burning him severely. Medical aid was received but not much could be done for the child. Roy was born at Carnegie, Pa., December 23, 1910, and was the third child to Mr. and Mrs. George WACKER, of Western avenue, Oakdale. The family just moved to Oakdale from Sheridan on the 26th of last April. Roy was a very lovable child, always pleasant and had a wonderful disposition. The short time of his live in Oakdale Roy mad a large circle of friends, who will greatly miss him. He leaves his mother and father, also two sisters and two brothers, besides a large circle of friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at his home on Western avenue, conducted by the Rev. A. E. F. DITTNER of the Lutheran church of Carnegie. Interment was made in the Oakdale cemetery. *Oakdale column L. Wayman OGDEN, a cousin of Rev. W. P. VARNER, pastor of the M. E. church, was killed in an automobile accident last Thursday, when the car, containing L. W. OGDEN and Mr. and Mrs. DUNKAN, skidded on a slippery road on a sharp curve about five miles from Morgantown. The car turned over four times killing Mr. OGDEN, seriously injuring Mrs. DUNKAN and breaking Mr. DUNKAN's jaw. Mr. OGDEN was forty-seven years old and was superintendent of the Harrison County schools in W. Va. *Noblestown column

LITTELL, of Venice. Interment in the Venice cemetery. Miss Alice O. STEWART died at her home north of McDonald Monday morning, August 9, at 8 o'clock. Her death resulted from a tumor and a stroke. Miss STEWART was 60 years of age. She was born in Pittsburgh, and at the age of twelve went with her family to Texas, where she stayed but a short time, and upon the death of her father, the family moved to the farm north of McDonald where they have since resided. One brother, Perry, and one sister, Emma, survive. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, August 11, at 2:30 p.m. at the home, Rev. Dr. KERR, of Candor, in charge. Interment took place in Candor. Mrs. John STOCKWELL died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William ANDERSON at Kingsville, Ohio, where she had gone but a short time ago to spend the summer. Her death was caused by heart trouble and a general breakdown. Mrs. STOCKWELL was born near Munntown, Washington county, March 30, 1841 and was aged 79 years. For the past 25 years she had lived near McDonald. One son and two daughters survive: Wm. of Charleroi, Mrs. Samuel ALLINDER of McDonald and Mrs. William ANDERSON of Kingsville, Ohio. One sister and one brother also survive: Mrs. Margaret SMALL of Hickory, and James SHEETS of Canonsburg. Funeral services were held Sabbath evening at 7 o'clock at the home of Samuel ALLINDER, 136 Station street, McDonald. Interment was held Monday morning at Bethel Church cemetery. Many were shocked last week to learn of the death of Dr. Mary E. SMITH, of Columbia X Roads, Pa. She was formerly of Pittsburgh and has many friends in this community. *Oakdale column

KELSO, DUNBAR Mark KELSO, a highly respected farmer and almost a life long resident of Robinson Township, died at his home about four miles north of McDonald on Friday morning at 8:30 o'clock. Heart failure was the cause of his death. Mr. KELSO was born on the old KELSO homestead about one mile south of Primrose. When a young man he went to the farm which at that time belonged to his father and on which he died. He was married to Miss Elizabeth ALLISON about fifty years ago. Mrs. KELSO died in 1916. Three sons survive, Mark, on the John DUNBAR farm; Alex, on the old home farm south of Primrose, and George, at home. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth SPRINGER of McDonald, and one brother, W. J. KELSO, of Bellevue. Funeral services were held at his late home at 2 o'clock on Sunday afternoon, in charge of Rev. G. M. KERR, pastor of the Candor church, of which Mr. KELSO was a member. Interment was in the Candor cemetery. Crosscreek, July 20--Mrs. Isabel PARKE DUNBAR, aged 91 years, widow of William DUNBAR, whose death occurred in 1894, one of the most widely known women of this section of the county, died at her home, one and one-half miles south of here this morning at 6:30 o'clock. She had been in feeble health for the last month, but her condition did not become serious until Thursday. Mrs. DUNBAR was born in Smith township, and has spent her entire life in northwestern Washington county. She was a daughter of Garret VAN EMAN. In her early years she was a member of the Candor Presbyterian church at Raccoon. Upon her removal to this district 50 years ago, she united with the Crosscreek church of the same denomination. Mrs. DUNBAR came from a family noted for its longevity. She was a member of a family of three brothers and five sisters, all attaining an age of 80 or more years. Her surviving sister, Mrs. James STEVENSON, of Raccoon, is 89 years of age. Scott VAN EMAN, who resides in Colorado, is 84 years old, and Lee VAN EMAN, residing now in California, is 87 years old. Of five sons and four daughters born to Mrs. DUNBAR, four sons and three daughters survive: Mrs. Hannah Mary DUNCAN, Mrs. Elizabeth PATTERSON, and W. T. and George C. DUNBAR at home; Mrs. Rachel GAULT, Crosscreek township; F. S. DUNBAR, Crosscreek and Dr. J. W. DUNBAR, Old Concord, superintendent of the Institute of Practical Arts for Immigrants and Their Children. Funeral services will be held at the DUNBAR home Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of Rev. D. L. SAY, assisted by Rev. C. L. MCKEE, of Washington. Interment will be in the Crosscreek cemetery.

SMITH, DILLON, WILLIAMS Mrs. Mary E. SMITH, widow of Dr. Andrew SMITH, and for 35 years a resident of Carnegie, died on Sunday afternoon, July 4th in her late home in Carnegie. She was the daughter of the late Daniel and Nancy HOFFMAN and was born at Noblestown, Pa. Her early life was devoted to teaching school. Mrs. SMITH was a member of the Carnegie Presbyterian church and its different organizations also a member of the Woman's Club of Carnegie, and was very active in all charitable work. She leaves a sister, Mrs. Emma V. MCFARLAND, of Pittsburgh, two brothers, William T. of Carnegie and George W. HOFFMAN of California. The funeral services were held in her late home Wednesday afternoon conducted by Rev. MCQUILTEN of the Unite Presbyterian church, assisted by her former pastor, the Rev. KERR of Candor. The music was rendered by Messrs. HOFFMAN and WEAVER of Oakdale, YOUNG and HUMPHRIES of McDonald, and the Misses BARR and STRASS of Carnegie. The floral tributes were many and beautiful. Many friends were there to pay their last tribute to one who has done a noble work. Interment was in the Chartiers Cemetery. William Edward DILLON, 9 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward DILLON, died at the family home in Grant avenue at 2:15 o'clock Thursday morning, July 8, 1920, after a six week's illness of blood poisoning. He was born September 14, 1910, and was a pupil in grade school. Besides his parents he leaves one brother, Donald. Funeral services were held at the late home Saturday afternoon at two o'clock, in charge of the Rev. B. B. HARRISON. Interment was in Robinson's Run cemetery. Mrs. H. P. WILLIAMS of Third St. and her sister, Mrs. MILLIRON of Bristow, Okla., who was visiting here, were both called to Tulsa, Okla. on Thursday of last week by the sudden death of their brother-in-law, Henry S. LYTLE. Mr. LYTLE was bitten by a black spider on Tuesday and died the next day from the effects of the bite.
MCPEAK, HAIL, ROSS Efforts by physicians in the West Penn hospital, Pittsburgh, to save the life of Floyd MCPEAK, aged 5, of Burgettstown, who was kicked by a cow and injured internally on July 11, failed, when the child died at 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon while being operated on. The accident occurred on a farm owned by the boy's father. The funeral services for Mary Margaret HAIL were held at her late home at Gaily on Tuesday afternoon by Rev. HILDEBRAND of the Union church. The little girl was laid to rest in the Butler cemetery. She was loved by all who knew her. The flowers and floral emblems were many and beautiful. *Oakdale column William E. ROSS, aged 65 years, died at his home in Third street at 1:40 o'clock on Wednesday afternoon, August 4th, of heart trouble. He had been in poor health for some time. Mr. ROSS was born in Peters Township, Washington County. He was united in marriage with Anna F. WOODS, who died December 1919. About twenty years ago they moved to a farm in Robinson Township where they resided until about six years ago, when they moved to McDonald. One daughter, Mrs. William E. WEBBER survives. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
