The Weekly Courier Thursday, July 29, 1926 GEORGE W RUSSELL DIES SUDDENLY AT CLEVELAND George W RUSSELL, former resident of Dunbar and Vanderbilt, dropped dead Thursday afternoon at Cleveland, Ohio, where he had been making his home for the past 10 years. His sudden death was attributed to the intense heat. Prior to going to Cleveland, deceased was an employe of the Pittsburg & Lake Erie Railroad at Dickerson Run. His home was a Dickerson Run. Mr RUSSELL, who was 45 years old, leaves a widow, Mrs Catherine NEWELL RUSSELL, daughter of Mr and Mrs Daniel NEWELL of Vanderbilt, two daughters, Annabelle and Margaret, and his parents, Mr and Mrs James RUSSELL of Dunbar. Two brothers and four sisters survive. Madison Man Dies David E MILLER, 76 years and 26 days old, died at his home at Old Madison Saturday, of dropsy. He is survived by his widow, Mrs Missouri A MILLER, and following children: Thomas A Miller and Paul J MILLER, both of Madison; Mrs Mamie CAMPBELL and Mrs Irene GRIFFITH, both of New Staton RD 1; and Miss Golda MILLER of Youngwood. Hunker Man Killed When Car Stalls Hunker, July 26---Stalling of the engine of the automobile in which he was returning to his home here, on the tracks of the Pennsylvania Railroad at the Hunker crossing Saturday afternoon is believed to have been the cause of the almost instant death of Howard J HOFFMAN, 34 years old, when the Uniontown Express crashed into his stalled machine. Mr HOFFMAN leaves a widow and one daughter. Mrs HOFFMAN has been ill for four months and will not be permitted to see the body of her husband which was taken to the home of his parents, Mr and Mrs George HOFFMAN at East McKeesport, where funeral services will be held. Mrs Katherine ADAMS’ Brother Is Killed K O MOORE, 42 years old of Oil City, brother of Mrs Katherine Adams of Isabella Road, was killed Tuesday at New Castle, where he had been working when struck by a train. His skull was fracture. He was unmarried. Besides his sister, Mrs ADAMS, he is survived by four others, Mrs JT GORMLEY, Mrs PJ GRIFFIN and Mrs OH HILLGROVE, all of Brookline, Pittsburg, and Mrs RW MARTIN of Oil City, and two brothers, Peter MOORE of Coraopolis and RW MOORE of Ashville, NC. The body will be taken to Oil City for burial. MISS RUBY DULL DIES AT HOSPITAL AFTER OPERATION Miss Ruby C DULL, well-known young women of the South Side, died at 9 30 o’clock Thursday evening at Connellsville State Hospital following an operation for appendicitis. She underwent the operation on Monday morning, being admitted to the institution on Sunday. Miss DULL was a daughter of Grant and Mary SIPE DULL. She was born in this city and spent all her life here, being educated in the public schools. She was a member of the Christian Church and also of the Philathea Bible Class of that church. In addition to her parents, she is survived by one sister, Miss Margaret, at home. GEORGE S HUTSON George S HUTSON, 63 years old, a former resident of the Dawson community, died May 29 at the Sautell Soldiers Home at Sautell , Cal, according to word received by Jesse K HUTSON, a cousin. Mr HUTSON had been in the West for 30 years. He formerly was located at Quartzsite, Ariz, where he was engaged in prospecting for gold and other minerals. He served in the Spanish War in Cuba. He had been at home for some time and left it, returning to work. He returned two weeks before his death. Mr HUTSON is unmarried. There are said to be a number of relatives living in Fayette and Westmoreland counties. He was the last of his family. His parents were Mr and Mrs David HUTSON. MRS CHARLOTTE I HAINES Scottdale, July 26---Mrs Charlotte Irene HAINES, 51 years old, wife of Charles HAINES, died Saturday night at her home at Kingview. MRS JENNIE RIGGAR Mrs Jennie RIGGAR, 67 years old, widow of Harry RIGGAR, died Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock at her home near Leisenring No 1. She was born April 21, 1859, a daughter of John and Caroline MYERS MARTIN. She is survived by the following children: Frank and Jesse, both of Connellsville; Van, Oran and Dewey, all of Leisenring No 1; William of Juanita; Mrs Sallie ROBINSON of Un-Leisenring No 1 and Mrs Cora GILPIN at home. Mr RIGGAR died eight years ago. HAYES GASKILL Hayes GASKILL, 86 years old, a veteran of the Civil War, died Saturday at his home at Smithfield. Mr GASKILL was born at Woodbridge on January 3, 1940 and came to Fayette county in March 1895. He was a son of the late Morgan and Sydney BROWN GASKILL. Mr GASKILL had been twice married, his first union being with Nancy HAMON who died in 1864. He was married again in March, 1865, at Elmira, NY, to Margaret WILLIAMS, a daughter of Lizzie SAGER WILLIAMS and the late William J WILLIAMS. Mr GASKILL served during the Civil War as a member of Company G, Fourth Ohio Volunteer Infantry, enlisting at age 21 years in April, 1861 at Columbus, Ohio. He was honorably discharged at Camp Dennison, Ohio, in July, 1861, and reenlisted at the same camp in June, 1862, rejoining his old company. He was transferred to Harpers Ferry in September, 1863, to Battery A, Fourth US Artillery and was again discharged in February, 1864 to re-enlist as a veteran. His father was a soldier during the War of 1812. Mr GASKILL was a member of JS PHILLIPS Post, GAR of Smithfield Encampment No 230: Spring Lodge No 237 IOOF. He was a machinist by trade and had resided at Smithfield for the last 30 years. He is survived by his wife, Margaret GASKILL; two grandchildren, Pauline H KAMERER of Cleveland, O, and Morgan B GASKILL of Chicago, and two nephews, Cornelius GASKILL and Charles GASKILL of Fairmont. MRS ELLEN GADDIS CLARK Mrs Ellen GADDIS CLARK, 65 years old, died Monday at her home in Uniontown following a week’s illness. She was the daughter of the late Mr and Mrs John GADDIS and the widow of John H CLARK. She was born in North Union township December 5, 1859, and was united in marriage in 1879. She had been a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Uniontown for 43 years. One sister, Mrs Hanson RUTTER of Uniontown and two brothers, TB GADDIS of Uniontown and Eli C GADDIS of Artesia, New Mexico, survive. Mrs Clark was a second cousin of Mrs Holland PIERSOL of the West Side. She also had a number of friends in Connellsville and vicinity. MRS JS CADWALLADER Mrs JS CADWALLADER, 28 years old, of 225 South street, died at noon today at the home of her parents, Mr and Mrs John KNIGHT in Layton. She had been ill for about two months and two weeks ago was taken to the Layton residence. In addition to her husband she is survived by a small daughter, Christobel. MRS JOSEPHINE B LEGARTH Mrs Josephine BRINKO LEGARTH, 28 years and 4 months old, wife of Stephen LEGARTH of West Leisenring, died Monday afternoon at the Uniontown Hospital following a brief illness of typhoid fever. Besides her husband, she is survived by four children, Joseph, John, Anna and May, all between one and seven years old; one sister and one brother. CHRISTIAN KNEPP Meyersdale, July 23---Paralysis, with which he was stricken while picking cherries last Saturday, resulted in death of Christian KNEPP, well-known farmer of Larimer township, Wednesday night. He hung helpless over a limb of a tree before his plight was discovered. He was 77 years old. MRS MARY HANNAH PORTER Mrs Mary Hannah PORTER, 90 years old, who has resided in the vicinity of Smithton practically all her life, died Thursday morning at her home new Wick Haven. MRS AMANDA MORROW Scottdale, July 21---Mrs Amanda Frances MORROW, 64 years old, wife of H C MORROW, died Tuesday night at her home in North Huntington Township. JOSEPH B MILLER Somerset, July 22---Joseph B MILLER, 74 years and nine months old, farmer of Jefferson township and a former county commissioner of Somerset county, died suddenly Tuesday morning while sitting in a chair in the office of the Ferner Hotel. Heart trouble was the cause. CHARLES W BARNHART Charles W BARNHART, 33 years old, died Monday night at his home at Hollidaysburg following a lingering illness. Burial will be in Mon Valley Memorial Park. SRNKA John SRNKA (SANKO) of Char-House, 251 Ninth St, Charleroi, died Sunday, July 7, 1985, at 3 30 am in Washington Hospital. He was 76. Mr SRNKA was born Nov 6, 1906, in Leckrone, Pa, a son of the late Martin and Anna KUKAN SRNKA. A resident of the mid-Mon Valley his entire life, Mr SRNKA was a member of Saints Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church, Charleroi, and the Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the US Army. Mr SRNKA was a retired tailor from the David Israel Men’s Store in Charleroi. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Stephen. Survivors include his wife, Ann DEMCISK SRNKA; and one brother, Martin in Europe. BARRY TREW, rifle champion, coach R Barry TREW, 55, of Orbisonia, Huntingdon County, formerly of Bentleyville, died unexpectedly Monday, March 30, 1992, in Orbisonia. Born March 14, 1937, in North Charleroi, he was the son of the late Charles W and Evelyn HAWKINS TREW. Mr TREW was co-owner of TREW’S Sports Shop in Bentleyville and TREW’S Distributor in Waynesburg. He was a graduate of Washington and Jefferson College and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Bentleyville. Mr TREW was also a member of the National Rifle Association, Pittsburgh Suburban Rifle League, Green Mountain Rifle League and the Allegheny Valley Rifle League. He was the coach of McGuffy and Washington high school rifle teams and rifle coach of teams at Washington and Jefferson College and St Francis College. He was the first man to become a four-time All-American and NCAA rifle champion. Mr TREW was also national rifle champion in 1956, 1963, 1964 and 1969. He also held several Pennsylvania state rifle championships. During the 1960 Olympics in Rome, Italy, he was alternate on the US Rifle Team. Mr TREW was recently elected to and will be inducted in May to the Washington-Greene County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Hall of Fame. He is survived by his wife, Rose PLOVIC TREW, three sons, Dean TREW and Gregg TREW, both of Bentleyville RD 1, and Daniel TREW, at home; two sisters, Mrs William (Margaret) SAHADY of Brownsville and Mrs Gene (Patricia) COLLARETTI of Palm City, Fla; one brother, C Jack TREW of Bentleyville; several nieces and nephews; and his first wife, Jean DORMO of Bentleyville. He was formerly employed by the US Steel Donora and Fairless Hills works. A former Monongahela resident, he resided in Louisiana for 20 years. He was Protestant by faith. He was a member of St Jerome Roman Catholic Church, VFW Post 167 and American Legion Post 22, all of Charleroi. Mr CARUSO was a retired inspector for Columbia Gas Company. Mr GRAY was born Oct 13, 1916, in Vanderbilt, a son of the late Arthur and Ida STRANGROOM GRAY. In 1971, he retired from Monessen Southwestern Railroad, where he had been employed for 30 years. Mr GRAY was a member of the Taylor United Methodist Church, Centerville, and the United Steel Workers of America. On Aug 9, 1939, he married Tresia POUNDS GRAY, who survives. He and his wife bowled in the mixed couples Guys and Dolls League in Bentleyville for 23 years. Also surviving are one son, Barry B GRAY, of Uniontown; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald and Russell GRAY, both of Charleroi; three sisters, Mary MORGAN of Charleroi, Ruby KUZAR of Connellsville and Berneda WHORIC of .Leisenring; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are two sons, Bruce GRAY, who died in infancy, and Larry GRAY, who died May 17, 1990; and one brother, Edward GRAY. There will be no viewing or visitation. Besides the parents, there are nine brothers and sisters in the home. Funeral services wee held at 9:30 o'clock Thursday morning in the BARNES home, conducted by the Rev. William M. DOIG, pastor of the Cecil mission, assisted by the Rev. Mr. CARSON, pastor of the Gladden U. P. church. Interment was in the Oakdale cemetery. Patrick YORKE, aged 74 years, who inventions and innovations advanced oil and gas drilling, died in his home in Washington, Pa., Saturday, February 12, 1927, after a lingering illness. The first pair of steel bits were manufactured for and used by Mr. YORKE, eliminating fishing jobs caused by imperfect welding of the iron and steel bits used in the early days. He was the first driller to realize that the twist in rope cables would sufficiently turn bits in the hole. He first used steel cables in drilling and invented numerous types of fishing tools. His last contribution to the industry was the steel portable derrick. John Pressly PROUDFIT died Saturday, February 12, 1927, at 10:40 p.m., at the home of his sister, Mrs. W. J. MCNARY in Burgettstown. Mr. PROUDIFIT was a son of Robert and Sarah PORTER PROUDFIT and was born near Bavington. He had spent his entire life in the Burgettstown community. He was twice married. His second wife died five or six years ago. A daughter, Miss Etheline PROUDFIT of the Southside, Pittsburgh, and a son, Russell PROUDFIT of Irwin, survive. He leaves also eleven grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon. Interment was in the Fairview cemetery, Burgettstown. Mrs. Martha MCPEAK MAWHINNEY, aged 76 years, wife of John F. MAWHINNEY, died at 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 15. Her death was due to pneumonia. She had been ill one week. Mrs. MAWHINNEY was a member of the Venice United Presbyterian church and had been active in the affairs of the congregation. Besides her husband she leaves two sons, Joseph C. MAWHINNEY of Philadelphia and Albert MAWHINNEY of Cecil, and two daughters: Mrs. Carrie HUTCHINSON of Cecil and Mrs. Anna BELL of Thompsonville. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. this Friday in the Venice United Presbyterian church. Mrs. Arsene DUBOIS, aged 77 years, died at three o'clock Friday morning, February 11, 1927, in the county home at Arden. Death was due to complications due to her advanced years. Mrs. DUBOIS was born in Belgium. It was there she was married, and she and her husband came to the United States about forty years ago. Mrs. DUBOIS had lived in McDonald about thirty-five years. Mr. DUBOIS was killed twelve years ago in the Bulger mine. Three years ago Mrs. DUBOIS went to the county home at Arden. There are no known relatives. The body was brought to the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. CHARLIER in East Lincoln avenue, where funeral services were held at two o'clock Sunday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. J. M. BETTS, pastor of the McDonald Methodist church, assisted by the Rev. Auguste DEVOS, pastor of the French U. P. church. The choir of the Methodist church sang. Interment was in the Robinson's Run cemetery. Miss Ella MCFADDEN died on Monday, February 7, 1927. Funeral services were held the following Wednesday evening. Interment was on Thursday. Mr. MATCHETT was a former Clinton resident and lived in the house now occupied by the ROADMAN family. His death occurred last week after a long illness of dropsy. The end came suddenly, apparently from a stroke. He was a resident of Hollidays Cove, W. Va. and was well know as a carpenter of lifelong experience. He leaves his wife, who was Miss CAROTHERS of Frankfort, and eight children. Miss MASSINGHAM had been ailing for five years. Funeral services were held Wednesday evening at her parents' residence, Ridge and Dinsmore avenues, Crafton. Thomas J., the infant son of Thomas J. and Helen LAND WILLIAMS, of 56 Laciede street, Mt. Washington, Pittsburgh, died about three o'clock Sunday morning, February 6, 1927, in the WILLIAMS home. Mrs. Leoncie SALLES BLANK, 46 years old, died at 6:45 o'clock Sunday morning, February 6, 1927, at her home in Sturgeon. She had been ill four months. Mrs. BLANK was born in France October 16, 1881, and came to McDonald 37 years ago. After living in McDonald for three years, she moved to Sturgeon, where she spent the rest of her life. On April 11, 1896, she was united in marriage with Mr. Joseph BLANK, who died 15 years ago in Sturgeon. She was a member of St. Patrick's church, Noblestown, and of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Order of Railroad Conductors, Division 476, of Carnegie. She leaves two sons and two daughters: Esther, the wife of C. J. LIENARD of Fort MYERS, Florida; Joseph BLANK of Sturgeon; Violet, the wife of C. E. PITTS of Hollidays Cove, W. Va.; Harry BLANK of Columbus, Ohio. She also leaves one brother, F. J. SALLES of Sturgeon, and one sister, Mrs. H. M. MCWHORTER of Columbus, Ohio. There are six grandchildren. Funeral services were held at ten o'clock Tuesday morning in St. Patrick's church, Noblestown, with requiem high mass sung by the Rev. Fr. D. J. COX. As Mrs. BLANK had requested before her death, her niece, Miss Norma SALLES, played the organ for the mass. Interment was in St. Patrick's cemetery, Noblestown. John C. KENNEDY, in his 79th years, died at 5:30 o'clock Tuesday evening, February 8, 1927, at the home of his son, Clark KENNEDY, in Cleveland, Ohio. Death was due to heart trouble, he having died without a struggle. Mr. KENNEDY was born in New Philadelphia, Ohio, January 24, 1849. He came to Washington county about sixty years ago and had lived her most of his life. He was united in marriage with Malissa Jane TOLLAND of West Virginia in 1869, and they went to housekeeping in Washington county. Nine children were born to them, for of whom are dead. Mr. KENNEDY spent most of his active life in the oil fields. A year ago in January he closed his store in Laure hill which he had conducted for three years, and went to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he stayed for six months. From there he went to Cleveland, Ohio, where he had since resided. Mrs. KENNEDY died in September 1924. He belonged to the Methodist church all his life and had been a member of the Knights of Pythias for about fifty years. He leaves three sons and two daughters: Thomas E. KENNEDY and Mrs. Loretta M. WARD of Albuquerque, N. M; C. D. KENNEDY of McDonald; Lillian, the wife of Albert ELLERY of Detroit, Mich., and Clark D. KENNEDY of Cleveland, Ohio. There are nineteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The body was brought from Cleveland to the C. D. KENNEDY home in Fanny street, McDonald. Funeral services will be held in the McDonald Methodist church at two o'clock this Friday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. J. M. BETTS, assisted by the Rev. J. H. DEBOLT of Washington, a former pastor. Interment will be in the Robinson's Run cemetery. The numerous friends of the Rev. Guy S. BROOKS in McDonald were saddened the first of the week to learn of his death, which occurred on Sunday, February 6, 1927, in his home, 230 Dell avenue, Mt. Lebanon, Pittsburgh. He was born at North Woods, Ohio, and graduated from Muskingum college. His theological course was completed at the Pittsburgh seminary in 1904. Logans Ferry was his first and also his last pastoral charge. He served here a second time after retiring about six months ago from the pastorate of the Lincoln Avenue U. P. church, Pittsburgh. Just a short time before his death he spoke to a friend of the happy relationship that existed between him and the Logans Ferry congregation, and said that he was thoroughly enjoying the work there. Mr. BROOKS also served at Parnassus, at Jamestown, Pa., and at the Robinson's Run church, McDonald. He came here about the time of the flu epidemic, was himself stricken, and had to contend with much sickness in his own home as well as in the congregation. He made many friends, by his manly and sympathetic bearing, and was highly regarded by his ministerial brethren in the valley. Though he was never rugged physically, his death came as a shock to his many friends. He was secretary and treasurer of the Pittsburgh Alumni association of the Pittsburgh seminary. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Mary DOW BROOKS; a daughter, Miss Helen BROOKS, and a son, Philip BROOKS, all at home, and a brother, Kerr BROOKS of Huntsville, Ga. Funeral services were held at eight o'clock Tuesday evening at Mt. Lebanon in charge of the Rev. E. C. MCCOWAN of the Mt. Lebanon U. P. church. Invocation was by the Rev. W. B. MCBAINE. The scripture lesson was read by the Rev. J. F. RAY, clerk of the presbytery to which the Rev. Mr. BROOKS belonged. Words of testimony were given by the Rev. Dr. T. D. EDGAR, who spoke of him as member of presbytery, the Rev. P. W. SMITH, who spoke of his as a man, the Rev. dr. W. D. IRONS, who spoke of him as a pastor, and the Rev. N. D. FINDLEY, who spoke of him as a friend. The Rev. Mr. FINDLEY was his pastor when Mr. BROOKS was a young man, ready for college. The Rev. R. L. LANNING led in prayer. Dr. MCCOWAN, who recently became his pastor, gave the address. The interment was at Huntsville, Ohio. Mrs. Josephine MATCHETT MCCLURG, in her 70th year, died at her home in Candor at three o'clock Monday afternoon, February 7, 1927. She had been in failing health since the death of her husband a year ago last June. Mrs. MCCLURG was a life-long member of the candor community, the daughter of Robinson and Mary CHRISTY MATCHETT of Candor. When about twenty years old she was united in marriage with Allan MCCLURG of Beaver county, who conducted a store in Candor from that time until his death in 1925. They had no children. Mrs. MCCLURG united with the Raccoon Presbyterian church in 1877, and was active in the work of the church until her illness. She leaves two sisters, Mrs. Fred KRAEER of Hickory, and Mrs. John CAIN of Candor. Her oldest sister, Ms. Jacob GLASSER of Candor, died just 18 days before the death of Mrs. MCCLURG. Funeral services were held at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon, conducted by her pastor, the Rev. G. M. KERR. Interment was in the Raccoon cemetery at Candor. W. C. MARSHALL received word on Sunday of the death in Texas of his nephew, Paul QUINN, aged 25, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry QUINN of Washington. The body arrived on Tuesday and funeral services were held Wednesday. *Oakdale column John CREESE, a former resident of Oakdale, died on Thursday afternoon, February 3, 1927, at the home of his son, Eugene CREESE, in Longmont, Colo., after an illness of one year. Mr. CREESE was born February 4, 1943, and had followed the oil business all his life. He died just the day before his 84th birthday. Besides his son, Eugene CREESE of Longmont, Colo., he leaves five daughters. *Oakdale column The funeral of Mrs. GARDNER, who died in the Homer MARSHALL home last week, was held at Florence on Sunday. Funeral services were conducted in the MARSHALL home by the Rev. Samuel NEAL of the Hebron Presbyterian church on Saturday evening, February 5. Mrs. GARDNER had been cared for in the MARSHALL home for several months. She was aged 81 years. Mr LARIMER was born Oct 3, 1886, in Monongahela, a son of the late Mr and Mrs William LARIMER. He had resided in the Monongahela area all of his life. A veteran of World War I, Mr LARIMER was a cashier at the old First National Bank of Monongahela and later manager of the bank which was purchased by the Western Pennsylvania Bank which is today Equibank. He served from 37 years as a member of the Monongahela Hospital Board of trustees. A graduate of Kiski Prep School, he was a member of the American Legion Lodge Post 302, Monongahela Rotary, Monongahela Planning Commission and past exalted ruler of the Monongahela Elks Club. He was a member of the Monongahela Country Club, the Harry Phillips F&AM No 337 of Monongahela, former president of the Associated Charities, former president of the Washington County Bankers Association, former officer and trustee of the Presbyterian Church of Monongahela and an honorary member of the Monongahela Fire Dept. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen MCCURDY LARIMER. Survivors include one sister, Rebecca SHERRATT of Pittsburgh; a niece, Martha SKELLY of Pittsburgh; and a nephew William SHERRATT of Pittsburgh. DRENNEN, O'STEEN, GLASSER, RAAB, PYLE, RANDOUR, MCMILLEN, KERR, SIORSKI Mrs. John STEELE received word on Thursday of last week of the death of her small niece, Evelyn DRENNEN, at Grove City. Evelyn was one of the twin daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas DRENNEN and had been an invalid from birth. Joan, aged eleven months, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Truby B. O'STEEN of Lakeland, Florida, died on Thursday afternoon, January 20, 1927, from burns received when the bed in which she was asleep that morning caught fire. The child died in the hospital. Mrs. O'STEEN and a twin sister Jean were also taken to the hospital, where they are recovering, Mrs. O'STEEN from shock, and the little girl from burns. Mrs. O'STEEN was Susanna WILLIAMS of McDonald . Funeral services were held last Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Margaret MATCHETT GLASSER, aged 72 years, wife of Jacob GLASSER, died suddenly at her home in Candor at 8:30 o'clock Thursday morning, January 20, 1927. Her death was due to indigestion and followed a very brief illness. She had been waiting on her sister, Mrs. A. R. MCCLURG, who is seriously ill, when she was stricken. She was taken to her home nearby and following a second attack, passed away. Mrs. GLASSER had lived in Candor for the past 30 years and was a well known and highly respected woman. She was a member of the Raccoon Presbyterian church. She leaves her husband and two sisters: Mrs. A. R. MCCLURG and Mrs. John CAIN, both of Candor. Funeral services were held in the Raccoon church at Candor Saturday afternoon, conducted by her pastor, the Rev. Dr. G. M. KERR. The interment was in the Candor cemetery. Thomas RAAB, aged 29 years, died in a Pittsburgh hospital at seven o'clock Tuesday evening, January 25, 1927. Death was due to pneumonia. Mr. RAAB was taken tot he hospital on Monday afternoon and died the following day. He was born August 11, 1897, in Midway, the son of John M. and Alice WINTERS RAAB of Midway. His father died in 1917. Thomas RAAB was a charter member of the Center United Presbyterian church of Midway. The past ten years he had resided in Pittsburgh. Besides his mother he leaves one brother Carl and two sister, Miss Zelda and Miss Rena, all at home. Funeral services were being held at two o'clock this Thursday afternoon at the family home in Midway, conducted by the Rev. E. S. RALSTON, pastor of the Center U. P. church. Interment will be in the Candor cemetery. Mrs. Adaline J. PYLE, aged 71 years, died at her home in Burgettstown on Sunday, January 23, 1927, after a long period of sickness. She had been in failing health about a year and a half, and her death was attributed to complications incident to her mature years. Mrs. PYLE was born near Bavington May 10, 1855, where she lived for 26 years and then she moved to Burgettstown, where she had resided ever since. Her husband, Joshua G. PYLE, died October 15, 1927. Mrs. PYLE was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Burgettstown, and had long been active in its work. She was a member of the Ladies' Missionary society and the Ladies' Aid society of that church. She leaves two sons: Robert H. PYLE of Ingram, and William PYLE of Burgettstown; and a daughter, Mrs. James P. SHILLITO, also of Burgettstown. Funeral services were held in the late home Tuesday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Dr. W. M. HAYS of the First Presbyterian church. Interment was in the Fairview cemetery, Burgettstown. Henry RANDOUR, aged 21 years, died enroute to the Canonsburg hospital following an accident in which he was squeezed between a pit car and the rib as he tried to throw the brake on the car as he was leaving his work in the Gilmore mine, near George station, about four o'clock Thursday afternoon, January 20, 1927. He was so badly crushed that he died shortly after having been injured. Mr. RANDOUR was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Abel RANDOUR of Belgian hill, McDonald, and was born June 21, 1905, in McDonald. In October 1925 he was united in marriage with Miss Florence DEVANNY. Six weeks ago a daughter was born to them. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church of McDonald. Besides his wife, his daughter, and his parents, he leaves two sisters, Mrs. George MOORE of McDonald, and Mrs. George NICE of Midway, and one brother, Arthur RANDOUR, at home. Funeral services were held at two o'clock Sunday afternoon in the McDonald Methodist Episcopal church, conducted by his pastor, the Rev. J. M. BETTS, assisted by his former pastor, the Rev. J. H. DEBOLT of Washington. Interment was in the Robinson's Run cemetery. Mrs. Sara Jane MCMILLEN, aged 70 years, wife of James A. MCMILLEN of Barr street, died at 3:20 o'clock Saturday morning, January 22, 1927, in the Mercy hospital, Pittsburgh. Her death followed a short illness of peritonitis, she having been taken ill suddenly and having been removed to the hospital only on Friday afternoon. Mrs. MCMILLEN, who had been a resident of McDonald for the past 45 years, was born in Airdrie, Scotland, August 19, 1856, and was the daughter of Samuel and Sara Jane THOMPSON. She was married at that place on December 31, 1874, to James MCMILLEN. A few years later they came to America. She was a charter member of the First Presbyterian church of McDonald and of the Pythian Sisters of the Arlington Temple No. 102, and well known in this community. She leaves her husband; two sons: Samuel T. MCMILLEN of Homer City, William MCMILLEN of Monessen; three daughters: Mrs. Sara MARTSON of Dormont, Agnes, the wife of Harry S. FRANKLIN of Detroit, Mich., and Miss Susan MCMILLEN, at home: four sisters: Mrs. Maria LOGAN of Brooklyn, N. Y., Mrs. Thomas GRAHAM of Pittsburg, Kansas, Mrs. J. L. LAING of Donora, and Mrs. Nellie THOMPSON of St. Mary's W. Va. There are five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by her pastor, the Rev. B. F. HEANY. Interment was in the Robinson's Run cemetery. J. W. Born Nov 13, 1920, in New Eagle, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret FURIGA APPOLONIA. Mrs BUCCHIANERI spent most of her life in the New Eagle-Monongahela area. She worked as a clerk at Harris Working Man’s Store and also at the family business, Peno’s Motor Sales. She was a member of the New Eagle AARP and National AARP. She was Catholic by faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Peno BUCCHIANERI, who died Dec 10, 1982. Michael DURISIN, pastor of St Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Donora, for over 20 years, died yesterday in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh, after an extended illness. He was 57. Msgr. DURISIN was vicar forane of the Mon Valley Byzantine Catholic Deanery and had served as director of the annual Labor Day weekend pilgrimage to Mount St Marcrina, Uniontown, for a number of years. He was born in Trebisov, Czechoslovakia on Feb 5, 1921, a son of the late George and Mary SENCSAK DURISIN. He came to the United States on July 5, 1922 and attended St Mary’s Parochial School, Trenton, NJ, graduating from Trenton Central High School in 1938. He received a bachelor of arts degree from St Procopius College and entered St Procopius Seminary, Lisle, Ill. He was ordained by the late Bishop Basil TAKACH on Sept 21, 1945 in his parish church, St Mary of the Assumption, Trenton, NJ. He had administered parishes in Braddock, Allentown and Palmerton, Pa, before being assigned to Holy Spirit Church, Binghamton, NY. His next assignment was in Windber and from there came to Donora on Sept 1, 1956. He was appointed vicar forane on Dec 5, 1959. He was raised to the elevation of monsignor on Feb 25, 1965. Msgr DURISIN marked his 30th year as a priest in September, 1975. He died yesterday at 12 40pm. His father, George DURISIN, preceded him in death on May 1, 1977. Surviving are one sister, Mrs Mary HALRACK, wife of Dr Nicholas E HALRACK, DDS of Trenton, NJ, and two nieces Anne Marie and Marie Virginia. The body will lie in state at St Michael’s Church, Murray Ave, Donora, beginning at 3 pm Sunday, until the hour of services at 11 am Tuesday. Priestly Services will be conducted by the clergy on Sunday and Monday evenings at 7 oclock at the church. Celebrant at the Pontifical Requiem Devine Liturgy will be the Most Rev Stephen J KOCISKO, archbishop of Pittsburgh. GREENWOOD Branton Louis GREENWOOD, 25, of 215 Tenth St, McKeesport, formerly of West Newton, died Wednesday in McKeesport Hospital from injuries sustained in an accident Tuesday. Dravosburg police said a car operated by GREENWOOD collided head-on with another vehicle, driven by Zivko BOTINE of West Mifflin, on the Mansfield Bridge, Greenwood was treated for head, chest and abdominal injuries and admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital. He was born in Mt Pleasant on May 19, 1952 and had moved to McKeesport from West Newton two years ago. He was employed at the Irvin Works of United States Steel. Mr GREENWOOD was a member of St Paul AME Church, West Newton. He was a veteran of service in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Surviving are his parents George and Mary Louise COFIELD GREENWOOD of West Newton; three brothers, Julius GREENWOOD of Blythedale, Lester GREENWOOD of Pittsburgh and his twin, Stanton GREENWOOD of McKeesport; three sisters, Rose FIELDS of Harrisburg, Gwendy HOWARD of Blythedale and Georgette SNOWDEN of Pittsburgh, and his maternal grandmother, Mrs Augusta COFIELD of Blythedale. MOORE Frank C MOORE, of Monongahela, died yesterday at 6 10 pm in Monongahela Division of Mon Valley Hospital following an extended illness during which time he was in Crest Haven Nursing Home for 18 months. He was 85. Mr MOORE was born Sept 12, 1891 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Michael and Ann MOORE. He spent most of his life at 512 W Main St, Monongahela, but for the past two years resided with his son, Jerome MOORE of Marianna. Mr MOORE was retired from the coal mines where he worked for 55 years as a mechanic and electrician. He was a member of the United Mineworkers of America and the First Presbyterian Church of Monongahela. His wife, Martha GREER MOORE, preceded him in death in 1973. To his first wife, Agnes NEWARK MOORE, he had one son and three daughters, six grandchildren and four great-granddaughters. INJURIES FATAL TO PERRYOPOLIS MAN Services will be held tomorrow in Donora for a 45-year-old Perryopolis man who died following a head-on accident near Large in Jefferson Borough late last night. Allen D BUDDEMEYER, 45, Perryopolis, died following the head-on collision with another vehicle on Route 51 near Colonial Drive-In Theater in Jefferson Borough. Jefferson Borough police, who investigated the 10 58 pm accident, said Mr BUDDEMEYER was moving south on Route 51 when his auto went out of control and crossed the center of Route 51 and crashed into another vehicle operated Robert CONWAY, 41, of Pittsburgh. Jefferson police said they are not sure what caused the BUDDEMEYER auto to go out of control. “There is a possibility he may have suffered a heart attack,” one officer said. CONWAY and a passenger in his car, Henry SOLOARD, also of Pittsburgh, were both admitted to Jefferson Center Hospital in South Hills and both were reported to be in fair condition. Mr BUDDEMEYER was born Aug 14, 1932 in Pittsburgh, a son of Albert and the late Margaret BRUNGESS BUDDEMEYER. He was a supervisor at the Continental Can Co plant in West Mifflin. He was a member of the F&AM Lodge 808, Scottish Rite and Shriners, all of Pittsburgh, and St John Episcopal Church of Donora. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Monongahela, and the Grace Lutheran Quilters Club. She was a member and served for 23 years as treasurer of the Mon Valley White Shrine. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 108, and was a 25-year member of the Auxiliary to Mon Valley Health Resources, Inc of Mon Valley Hospital. Mrs BELLICINI was a member of the Monongahela Senior Center Activity Club and Mon Valley Local Five Senior Citizens. She was also a member of the Mon Valley YMCA. Edwin and a playmate, Joseph SKINNER, were skating on the creek in back of the CALEFFI garage when the ice broke and Edwin fell in. He was the son of Primo and Montina CALEFFI of Main street, Raccoon, and was born March 31, 1922. Besides his parents he leaves one sister, Emma, aged 10, and one brother, Robert, aged 3. Funeral services are being held at two o'clock this Thursday afternoon in the home at the CALEFFI garage, Main street, Raccoon. Mrs. Hortense MARQUARETTE BUCHHEIT, aged 38 years, wife of Charles R. BUCHHEIT, formerly of McDonald, now of Pittsburgh. Death was due to a complication of diseases. Besides her husband she leaves one son, Charles Jr., her mother, Mrs. M. L. MARQUERETTE, who made her home with her daughter, and one brother, H. V. MARQUERETTE, of Chicago, Ill. Mrs. Dora MONINGER LEE, aged 63 years, wife of the late John S. LEE, died at her home in Crosscreek Thursday night, January 13, 1927, after an illness of several months. Mrs. LEE was well known throughout this locality. She was a member of the Crosscreek Presbyterian church, active in its work as well as community welfare. She leaves three sons, Lawrence and LeRoy at home, and Howard H. LEE of the Carnegie high school. Funeral services were held at the LEE home at one o'clock Saturday afternoon conducted by her former pastor, the Rev. D. L. SAY of McKeesport. Interment took place Sunday in Center cemetery. Frank HARMON died in the Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh, at 6:50 o'clock Saturday evening, January 15, 1927, following an illness lasting about twenty days of Bright's disease. Mr. HARMON was taken ill on the voyage from India, where he had been an oil driller for the past eighteen years. He was attended by physicians in London and New York City and was taken to the Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh, when he reached that city, Mr. HARMON was returning to make his home with his niece, Mrs. L. A. GAMONDE, in East Lincoln avenue. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter HARMON, he was born November 7, 1870, at Brady's Bend, Armstrong county. About 35 years ago he married Miss Myrtle MILLS of Sturgeon. Years ago he was employed as a driller in the oil field about McDonald. He was also employed for a number of years in the Cross Creek oil field at its beginning and in the Washington field, and in the fields in Western Oklahoma, West Virginia, and Kansas. About fourteen years ago he made a trip around the world. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Myrtle HARMON of Oklahoma, and a daughter, Mrs. Isabelle KELLEY of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is survived also by three brothers and three sisters: George HARMON of Oakdale, Samuel of Bartelsville, Okla., and Henry of Texas; Hattie, the wife of Henry CHRISMAN of Carnegie; Annie, the wife of George HALSTEAD of Bartlesville and Fannie, the wife of Patrick MURPHY of Toledo, Ohio. Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon in the Midway Baptist church, in charge of the pastor, assisted by members of the American Legion. Interment was in the Center cemetery. *Midway column Walter J. DILLON, son of Mrs. John A. TAYLOR (nee DILLON) (sic), died at the St. Joseph's hospital, Pittsburgh, at 5:00 p.m., Monday, January 17, 1927. For some time Mr. DILLON had been in failing health and hopeful that he might have his health restored he consented to go to the hospital for whatever treatment seemed advisable. On Friday morning prior to his death he submitted to an operation through which he passes successfully, but failing to regain his strength, he passed away. Mr. DILLON was born in Carnegie, February 8, 1896. At an early age he came with his parents to Midway, where he resided the major part of his life. At the time of his death his age was 31 years, 11 months and 9 days. For a number of years he had been a member in good and regular standing of the P. O. S. of A., Camp No. 802 of Midway. Walter, as he was known by all, was a young man of excellent and exemplary character and conduct. He was quiet and affectionate in disposition and to his honor may it be recorded that he was devoted to his mother; thoughtful and considerate of her needs at all times. She in turn showered upon him the blessings of a mother's tender love and devotion. Besides his grief stricken mother there remain to mourn his departure a stepfather, Mr. John A. TAYLOR, who to Walter was a father in the truest sense and meaning of the word. He is also survived by four brothers: William DILLON of Midway, Matthew DILLON of Jamestown, N. Y., John and George TAYLOR of Midway; also a sister, Miss Gladys TAYLOR of Midway, besides a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon of last week in charge of the Rev. S. L. COBB, his pastor, who was assisted in an impressive service by Ernest Phillips Post No. 485, American Legion, of McDonald. The P. O. S. of A. was also in attendance at the services. The following beautiful numbers, "Rock of Ages," "My Jesus as Thou Wilt," and "Shall We Meet?" were sung by the choir, Mrs. Richard WALTERS, Mrs. Harry SMITH, Miss Verna WILLIAMSON, A. G. OVER, and Roy WOLFE, with Mrs. S. I. COBB at the piano. The services at the grave were concluded with the very impressive rites of the American Legion. Interment was in the Center cemetery at Midway. DYER Harry DYER of 1910 53-Lane North, Pinellas, Fla, died Tuesday, May 5, 1987 in the Metropolitan General Hospital, Pinellas Park. He was 83. Mr MISLO was born June 12, 1890, in Zevoida, Austria Hungary, and had been a resident of Monessen all of his adult life. He was a member of St Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Monessen, and its Rosary Society. Mr MISLO was retired from the open-hearth department of the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp, Monessen plant.
