Buried among the early settlers at the Long Run Presbyterian Church Cemetery, "John Boyd, died May 18, 1840, aged 78; his wife, Rachel, died Oct. 29, 1848, aged 68." Hope that helps. COWDEN, KOWALSKI, DINSMORE Robert Welch COWDEN, 70, formerly of Mt. Pleasant township, died Wednesday afternoon, September 1, 1943, at his late home in East Rochester, Ohio. A son of Robert Sloan and Margaret ALLISON COWDEN, he was born September 15, 1873, in Mt. Pleasant township. He married Alcinda HICKMAN of Canonsburg in June of 1898. They resided in Mt. Pleasant township for about six years following their marriage and then moved to Ohio where Mr. COWDEN engaged in farming. Mrs. COWDEN survives with three daughters and two sons: Mrs. Viola MOTTICE, Mrs. Mary NETZ, and Arthur COWDEN of East Rochester; Mrs. Jeanetta SMITH of Canton, Ohio and Ensign Clark COWDEN who is on duty with the U. S. navy in the Pacific. Two sisters and two brothers survive: Mrs. Emma SMITH of Crafton and Miss Margaret, Joseph, and D. M. COWDEN, who reside near Westland. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the late home in East Rochester, Ohio. Sturgeon Miner Loses Life At Westland Theodore KOWALSKI, 22, was fatally injured at 2:15 p.m. Friday, September 3, 1943, in the Westland mine when a fall of slate crushed him, breaking his neck and fracturing his skull. He was employed as a machine worker in the Westland mine. KOWALSKI was born February 7, 1921, in Pittsburgh, the son of Joseph and Pauline JOZEVIOK KOWALSKI of Sturgeon, R. D. 1, McDonald. He resided with his parents. Besides his parents, he is survived by three brothers, S/Sgt. Joseph KOWALSKI, stationed in India, Pvt. Steve KOWALSKI, stationed at Camp Shanks, N. Y., and Edward KOWALSKI, at home, and three sisters, Jennie, Jessie, and Mary, all at home. The funeral was held Monday morning with requiem high mass in St. Mary's church, Carnegie, by the Rev. Fr. W. PAWELKIEWICZ. Burial was in St. Joseph 's cemetery, Carnegie. Former Mt. Pleasant Twp. Resident Killed Sept. 4 A former resident of Mt. Pleasant township was instantly killed Saturday afternoon when struck by a bolt of lightning while engaged in farm work near his home at R. D. 3, New Castle. The victim was Elmore McCarrell DINSMORE, 40, son of Walker and Ann MCCARRELL DINSMORE, who resided in Mt. Pleasant township for many years. He was born August 15, 1903, in Jefferson county, Ohio. In addition to his parents, he is survived by one brother and three sisters: James Howard DINSMORE, U. S. Army, California; Ruth DINSMORE, Mt. MARTINEK, LIENARD, RICHERT George Iri MARTINEK, 63, of the Westend, McDonald, died at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, 1943, in the Canonsburg hospital. He had been in ill health for some time. Mr. MARTINEK was born in Austria and came to the United States about forty years ago, locating in McDonald. He was a retired coal miner. He is survived by one son, T/5 William MARTINEK, stationed at Camp Pickett, Va., and four daughters: Mrs. Alex CARLIER of Bellaire, Ohio, and Mrs. Daniel H. SMITH, Jr., Mrs. James CAPRA, and Miss Anita Mae MARTINEK, all three of McDonald. There are six grandchildren. His wife, the former Anna KOZNEK, died February 7, 1937. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Hamel funeral home, McDonald, conducted by Dr. S. A. MCCOLLAM, pastor of the First United Presbyterian church, McDonald. Burial will be in Robinson's Run cemetery. Mrs. Elmira MOTTE LIENARD, 68, died suddenly of a heart attack at 12:00 o' clock noon Tuesday, August 31, 1943, in her home 320 Center avenue, McDonald. A daughter of the late Alfred and Flora MOTTE, she was born December 4, 1874, in Belgium and came to the United States about 52 years ago, first locating in Wheeling. She and Nicholas LIENARD were married in wheeling 51 years ago and came to McDonald shortly afterward. Mr. LIENARD died January 3, 1929. Mrs. LIENARD was a member of the Robinson's Run church. She is survived by six daughters: Mrs. Harry MASQUELIER of McDonald, Miss Madeline LIENARD and Mrs. Raymond BROWN, both of Sturgeon, Miss Vivian LIENARD and Mrs. E. G. SILHOL, both of Hays, and Mrs. William LYONS of Mt. Lebanon; two sons: Alphonse and Louis LIENARD, both of McDonald; two brothers: Hilaire MOTTE of McDonald and Alex MOTTE of Terre Haute, Ind. There are eleven grandchildren. A son, Charles LIENARD of Columbus, Ohio, died December 22, 1938; a son Nicholas LIENARD of McDonald, died in 1930; a brother, Alfred MOTTE of McDonald, died in 1930, and a brother, Ernest MOTTE of Birmingham, Ala., died in 1937. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday in Pettit's funeral home, McDonald, conducted by the Rev. O. E. GARDNER. Burial will be in Robinson's Run cemetery. Mrs. Berdina RICHERT MCCARTHY, 37, died at 9:00 a.m. Monday, August 23, 1943, in her home in Carnegie, following a brief illness. A daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leon RICHERT of Cecil, she was born February 2, 1906, and attended the Cecil schools. Besides her parents, she is survived by her husband, Stanley MCCARTHY, and two sons, James and Kenneth, both of Carnegie; five brothers, John, Jules, and Charles RICHERT of Cecil, Paul RICHERT of Carnegie and Morris RICHERT, stationed with the Coast Guard in New York; two sisters, Kathryn, the wife of Patrick MCAUSLIN of Muse and Miss Rita Mae RICHERT at home. He was born in Hungary. Mr. ROSKO is survived by a son, Albert ROSKO of Bishop. The funeral was held Saturday morning with requiem high mass in St. Mary's church, Cecil. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery. Mrs. Dauphine THILMONT MILLER, 67, wife of Frank MILLER, died at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 1943, in her home in Cecil, following a brief illness. Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Ernest MILLER of Cecil; three sisters: Mrs. Josephine CHEESEBROUGH of Bridgeville, Mrs.Mary KIDD of Edmonton, Canada, and Mrs. J. C. John Fred KENNEWEG, 79, died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 10, 1943, in his home, Main street Laurel hill, McDonald, following a four year illness of heart trouble and complications. A son of the late Christopher and Rose VETTER KENNEWEG, he was born May 6, 1864, in Pittsburgh, where he attended the public schools. Later he attended the Ingleside academy, McDonald. He and Catherine EILER were married December 10, 1891, in McDonald by the Rev. W. D. IRONS. Mrs. KENNEWEG was a carpenter by occupation and was a member of the Junior Order of United American Mechanics for over fifty years. He was a member of the McDonald church. He was a lifelong Republican and was a school director of South Fayette township for twelve years. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons: John F. KENNEWEG, Jr., and Arthur E, KENNEWEG, Jr., both of McDonald, one sister Mrs. Molly HAMPSON, of McDonald; one brother Walter W. KENNEWEG of McDonald, and two grandsons, Graham and Donald KENNEWEG. A daughter, Catherine Idilla KENNEWEG, died May 16, 1896. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. this Friday in the home of his son, Arthur E. KENNEWEG , 423 Fannie street, McDonald, conducted by the Rev. Frank W. James, pastor of the McDonald Methodist church..
