She was born Sept. 22, 1904, in Derry Township, a daughter of the late William N. and Catherine (Hauger) Frable. She was a registered nurse having graduated from Mercy Hospital, Johnstown. She was a member of Heritage United Methodist Church, Ligonier. She was also a member and past matron of Fort Ligonier Chapter 349 Order of Eastern Star. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Golden Age Club, and a former member of the Quilting Club of Ligonier. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Deeds Geeting, in 1973; and three brothers, Vertal, Paul and Frank Frable. She is survived by a son, William (Frable) Geeting of Bellefonte; a grandson, Mark William Geeting of Augusta, Ga.; two nephews; and four nieces. Funeral services were held Tuesday, at the Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Ligonier, with the Rev. Samuel L. Allaman officiating. Burial was in Ligonier Valley Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Heritage United Methodist Church, Ligonier. Helen H. Snyder in charge of arrangements. _____________________________________________

Hunter, Sr., 73, of 113 North Walnut Street, Ligonier, died Friday in the Latrobe Area Hospital. Mr. Hunter was well-known in the Ligonier area, having been manager of the Railway Express Agency in Ligonier for many years, until the office was closed in 1952. He was a member and elder of the Pioneer United Presbyterian Church in Ligonier and was president of the Ligonier Golden Age Club. He served as master of the Ligonier F. and A.M. Lodge No. 331 in 1940. He was a member of Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Derry; Coudersport Consistory; and the Syria Temple of Pittsburgh. He was a fifty-year member of the IOOF, Latrobe Lodge 541, and served on the Ligonier Valley School Board from 1936 to 1942. Born in Mechesneytown, October 18, 1898, he was a son of the late Thomas B. and Lettie Jane Reed Hunter. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. T. Bailey Hunter, and R. Emerson Hunter. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Geeting Hunter; four sons, David G. of Fayetteville, Tennessee; James W. GEETING Milton Edward Geeting of 519 W. Main street, Ligonier, a well-known musician in this area and onetime (1956-60) member of the Borough Council, died Sunday in Latrobe Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 72. Rev. Benton R. McKee conducted services Tuesday in Sibel-Wolford Funeral home, and Mr. Geeting was buried in Ligonier Valley Cemetery. He was born Oct. 1, 1892, in Ligonier, son of David A. & Mary Ann Deeds Geeting, graduated from Ligonier High School in 1910. He was a train dispatcher and car distributor for the Ligonier Valley Railroad until it ceased operations in 1952, and since then had been employed at the administration building of Rolling Rock Farms. Years ago he was a member of the now defunct Ligonier Cornet Band: he remembered the concerts he played during the Ligonier Sesqui-centennial in 1908. A life member of the American Federation of Musicians, he played everything from serious music (the Greensburg Concert Band, etc.) to dance music; he played in fireman's bands and fiddled for square dances. Music was his avocation. A veteran of World War I, he was a past-commander of Byers-Tosh American Legion Post 267; he was a member of the Methodist Church, Ligonier Masonic Lodge 331, Coudersport Consistory, and the Tall Cedars of Lebanon. He leaves his widow (the former Amy Watson), a son (Milton Robert of Pittsburgh), a daughter (Mrs. H.C. Carlson Jr. of Berwyn), a brother and a sister (George D. Geeting and Mrs. James W. Her husband, the late Clark Weimer, died August 2, 1934. Surviving are nine children: Mrs. Samuel Chappel and Mrs. Harry Johnston, Derry; Mrs. Emory Burns, Mrs. John Rummell, Paul and Harry Weimer, Ligonier Twp.; Mrs. Harry Claycomb and Mrs. Arthur Baum, Ligonier, and Mrs. James Chappel, Latrobe. Mrs. Weimer also leaves 31 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and these five brothers and sisters: Clarence and Alex. McKlveen, Ligonier Twp.; Harry McKlveen, Ligonier; Mrs. Harry Perkey, Mt. Ankney, 47 years old, one of the two men who were crushed to death in a fall of rock at the mine of the Ridge Coal Company, near West Derry, Wednesday morning, March 2, was the fourth member of the family of Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Ankney of Latrobe, to meet a violent death. Two brothers and a brother-in-law also died through accidents. Some years ago, Wertner Ankney, seven years old, a son, ran a stick into his eye while on his way to school, which caused his death a short time later. John Ankney, another son, who was a railroad fireman, was killed in the disastrous Ligonier Valley train wreck on the Wilpen branch July 5, 1912. Lawrence Riddell, the husband of a daughter, died as the result of an accident in the plant of the Railway Steel Spring Company, nine years ago. Funeral services for Benjamin Ankney, the third son to die in an accident, were held at 2 o'clock, Friday afternoon, from the home of his parents, with the Rev. W.A. Sites in charge. OPHIE MAY PLUMMER Mrs. Ophie May Plummer, wife of David Plummer, of Ligonier township, died Sunday, January 19, 1919, of pulmonary tuberculosis, after a long illness, aged 30 years, 8 months and 12 days. She was a daughter of the late John Geeting, a Civil war veteran, and many years before her marriage made her home with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. H.Y. McDowell. She is survived by her husband and five small children ranging in age from about 3 to 12 years. Funeral services were held yesterday in Zion church, conducted by the Rev. William Hunter, Jr., pastor of the local M.E. church. She had been a member of the United Evangelical church for 16 years. Interment was made in the Zion cemetery. _______________________________________________

A-4, col. 4 CHARLES W. ANKNEY Charles W. Ankney of East Church St., Ligonier died Friday at the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. Arthur Haake of Lloydsville. He was born May 20, 1882. A retired State Highway employe, he served two terms on Ligonier Borough Council. Surviving are his widow, Kathryn (Kuhns) Ankney; daughters, Mrs. William (Naomi) Danser Jr., of Youngwood; Mrs. James (Evelyn) Bowers of Johnstown; Mrs. Robert (Helen) Fry of Latrobe; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Zula Cose of Blairsville. Funeral service was held at the D. Paul Wilkinson Funeral Home, Ligonier on Monday. The Rev. Ralph W. Brownfield, pastor of the Calvary United Methodist Church (former EUB) was in charge.
