Yes, his name was probably spelled quite different from what you are searching. I spent 3 years searching in Germany for my great grandparents using the name Dittman; only after having a research organization do the research did I find the name there was spelled Dütmann. And that my 6th great grandfather's name was Buller; he having taken the Dütmann name as his wife stood to inherit family property and under the law that was the only way he could marry her. You'll have to search to see what possible names that could have been derived from. If, I can remember, tomorrow I'll ask my daughter-in-law what it could have been in Russia, she was born there. I have some family connections to a Williams family from the McKeesport area.
