Kramer and address 5465 Bartlett rather than 3465. - The SSDI listing for Greta Shipley shows that her social security number was issues 1953-1955 in Pennsylvania. - Dr. Kramer does not appear to be a medical doctor. There is nooone by that name in the 1955 AMA directory on our site: http://www.evendon.com . - There is an L.H. Kramer in our 1953 phone book at 5828 Hobart Street which is in the same area of town as Bartlett. - There is reference to Mrs. L.H. Kramer of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Jewish Home for the Aged in the Jewish Criterion issue from Dec 16, 1946, page 60. You can find this at http://pjn.library.cmu.edu . You might consider having someone look in the 1952-1957 city directories at the Carnegie Library at the Elgin and Bartlett St addresses as well as for a listing for Greta. Dear Don Thank you very much for taking the time to look all that up for me. It is very useful to have advice re local resources etc. I am fine with looking for information in my part of the UK and some other parts of Britain etc. but I have limited experience of records in the USA beyond the SSDI and census etc. I have been fortunate enough to visit Pittsburgh a few times but always briefly and most of my time there was nearer in Bellefonte, near State College. Whilst there I did not have much reason to consult any genealogy records, so had no chance to become conversant with where to look. I will have to appeal for help again and hope that SKS will be able to spare the time to look at the records you mention. It looks as though Dr Kramer may have been an academic or similar so I may need to contact whatever university authorities may have records that might help.
