Barb, It's been at least 15 years since I've been down there and I don't know if that slag hill development outside the Squirrelly Hill tunnels affected it but............ heading down Browns Hill Rd toward the Browns HIll Bridge, just before the bridge there's a road to the left. Take that turn and immediately you'll see the Jewish Home for the Aged which you pass. Eventually you'll get down near the bottom and you'll see a bridge to your left (hopefully). Cross the bridge and you're in Duck Hollow. If you don't cross the bridge but drive down to the Monongahela River beach, you may discover a handful of guys fishing. When the water's low, you can actually walk between 1/4 and 1/3 of the way across the river. Seldom Seen: is north of Beechview and off Route 51. I'm not sure if you can even go back there without a lot of trouble as one of the genius traffic planners figured a way to make the intersection worse than before. If you were coming down Woodruff from Mt. Washington, lost your brakes and crossed Route 51, you would see the entrance to Seldom Seen. It's behind a barricade to keep people from dumping back there. Where you see the railroad underpass, you've seen the entrance to Seldom Seen. The tunnel is maybe 150 long and I imagine that the end of the tunnel is the farthest you can get. I took somebody from the list back there 8-10 years ago and it was............... well, let's put it this way. I remember Seldom Seen when there were well-maintained homes back there with most families having gardens and too many kids. It was a great place to grow up. Now it looks like something out of a Tarzan movie except the trees are not much more than saplings. It's so thick in there that nothing can grow like it should.
