There is a Sebring, OH near-by to Lisbon, which is the Columbiana County seat. Salem OH has a library with info in it, I'm told. I was in the area, but did NOT get there this time. Hope this helps you though!! My 92 year old mom recently moved here to be with me and I am picking her brain and helping her to remember things. She knows very little about her family background and I believe it is so good for her to find little nuggets of information! It is good for me. Her parents were both from Allegheny City, PA. (north Pittsburgh) Married in 1910, they were Edward August Roehler and Elma Anna Inderbitzen. Edward's father, Otto, married Anna Kartlick in 1888 in Allegheny City (AKA Troy Hill or Mount Troy). He was in the dry goods business with his father-in-law, August Kartlick at 26 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh. Anna died after her 3rd son was born, and on April 12, 1900, Otto shot himself. Sometime in that year the 3 boys were sent to live with their maternal grandparents, August and Caroline Kartlick who had moved to East Palestine, Ohio. Nothing is known about the boys until my grandfather came back to Pitt to claim his > small inheritance in 1910. There is a "mystery woman" involved in my mom's story which I hope to figure out eventually. At a 1952 family reunion in Pitt my mom recalls my grandfather getting very excited about an old woman who had come all the way from Sebring FL to be there. My mom thinks that she was a Sebring, but my gfather had never mentioned her before or after. My gfather (Gig) bought a farm in Beaver County and my mom was born there. There are Sebrings everywhere in PA and OH but especially in and around Allegheny, Beaver, Mahoning and Columbiana counties. I don't know if she was a part of the pottery "clan" and maybe the boys got to know her in Ohio. Or if she was in Beaver County during the 4 years they were there. I am so confused and she isn't even a part of my family tree!! I just can't make a connection between the families. It occured to me that since Gig's gfather, August Kartlick and his father, were in the dry goods business, maybe it had > originally been a business connection since I am sure that they sold some sort of pottery or china. > Since I really don't have a clue what I am doing, I really will appreciate any input! Thanks so much! > Dee > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to PA-PITTSBURGH-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
