Dear listers I am hoping someone out there may be able to help or offer some advice please? My husband's grandmother, Greta O'Grady SHIPLEY spent some years working as a nanny in Pittsburgh. She was from Suffold, England originally. I have found that she travelled to USA in both 1952 and 1956 and both times reference was made to Pittsburgh. The first time the adress 5911 Elgin Avenue was given and in 1956 the name of Dr L H Kramer, of 3465 Bartlett St, Pittsburgh 17, was on the passenger list. Does anyone know of this family or how I might try to find them. We have a special reason to ask about this and hope to make contact if possible. Helen, Have you tried to google.com Dr. L.H. Kramer, Pittsburgh, PA? I did and found several incidences that reference that name affiliated with research/study at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. I didn't check to see what years. How about S.S.D.I. (Social Security Death Index)? I didn't find anything on an initial "simple" search. I did find a Greta Shipley from 1901 to 1992 deceased in Pennsylvania on SSDI. Good luck.
