In Pittsburg the four bridges over the Allegheny will be free to the people after the first of the coming January. The bridges will be purchased by the county and donated to the city. This is a public improvement which has long been advocated, but until now blocked by the companies which own the structures. The values of the respective properties will be determined by viewers appointed by the courts. Thus Pittsburg takes a step forward. Other public improvements are to follow; among them a fine city hall on the site of the present market house.
