Dear David, This sounds like a criminal case. It likely was documented in a Docket book from the "Court of Common Pleas." Many of these books were destroyed by water but many still exist. They may be held either by the Prothonotary's office or by the Criminal Court offices. There also existed and perhaps still do daily registers for the Allegheny County Jail from that period. These were held in the Carnegie Library. They would show the name and the length of time in jail. I can make a couple of phone calls for you if you like. It would be helpful to know the particulars. Do you have exact dates? What are the names? What exactly are you looking for? And what is the source of your information? This was a preliminary hearing that never came to trial. Can anyone tell me if this would be classed as a civil or criminal matter? Are transcripts of such proceedings available to members of the public? If so, where can these be obtained from? The accused was held in Allegheny County Jail. Are Allegheny Jail records available for public viewing? If so, can anyone tell me how I can obtain copies? Thank you. Dave and Don (sounds like a singing group), If the records are in a docket book from the Court of Common Pleas, the books are at the Allegheny County Records Center in the section overseen by Bob Seeburger but, in order to search, you need to furnish names and dates. There are a LOT of books under Bob's care. Al At 10:14 AM 1/25/2008, you wrote: >Dear David, > >This sounds like a criminal case.
