Pittsburgh Research Questions: 1. Has anyone gone to the Archives of Industiral Society, Univ. of Pitt on 400 N. Lexington Ave. to do searches for building permits? 2. Has anyone had luck with finding "Prince of Peace" cemetery records through their office? I am looking for records of St. Michael and St. Adalbert cemetery and they both now?fall under "Prince of Peace". 3. When trying to get records from a funeral home; do you call ahead to make an appointment or do you just show up? Thanks ahead of time, Paul J. It's probably worth a phone call to find out how much they will charge to search those for you. theatreq (that's a strange name), I've been to the AIS. They are very helpful. I was looking through the Sanborn Maps but I don't know if they have the city's building permits. I've found that the best way, for me, is to call the funeral home before 1 pm or between 4 and 7. Too often they get tied up with their time if a viewing is going on. I wouldn't just show up as then they feel obligated to help........... sometimes. If they are busy when you phone, you can always phone later by asking them what time is convenient for THEM.
