Hi all, Not long ago people were talking about the cemetery on Arlington Ave, Prince of Peace Parish. This weekend I was in Pgh, visiting relatives (I'm in Charlotte, NC), so I went up To St. Adalbert's Cemetery in Carrick. On the south side cemetery is a section I'll call the Pauper's section. In this section many of the headstones are knocked down and/or broken, it is very overgrown (you can't even get back to many of the graves), the ground has sunk inside the concrete edge of the grave, and in several, there are trees 24" in diameter growing out of the grave. I must say that most of the cemetery is well taken care of. On the bright side, I did find my Grandmother Mary Cichowicz in the 1927 section of the area! Her oldest son, Joseph (1905 - 1981) made the headstones for her and Michal Cichowicz who died in 1934. I couldn't find him or my GGrandmother Anna. I'll do another search next time I go to Pgh.
