Hey Carol, I think I didn't know what I signed up for. I thought this was a mailing of postings. Did everyone see the question I sent? And see, I got right off!! Sorry to have seemed to be so rude!! I am looking for Rev George Dobbs and family. Family history states that he was founder of Trinity Church in the Strip Distrist of Pittsburgh. Building is still standing at 25th and Smallman I've been told. I've also been told that perhaps his wife is buried in the church. George and Elizabeth had children William C, John F, Elizabeth D who married William B Lowman, and Margaret Wilkinson Dobbs who married Smith Risinger in 1877. I'm working out of TN. I'm also searching for some families in Beaver Co; John and Catherine Risinger, Carroll and Kate Martin; and the families descended from Josephine and Samuel Thomas which include surnames Allison and Cable. Any help with anything would be appreciated. Obit from the Pittsburgh Press. Tuesday Evening edition, July 3, 1906 (this is my gg grandmother's brother-I was excited to find an obit that contained so much detail!) James Samuel Montgomery James S. Montgomery, one of the oldest managers in the employ of the Crescent Steel Co., died at his home, No. 4815 Center avenue yesterday. He was born in the old Fifth ward, Pittsburgh, opposite Trinity Church, December 16, 1849. When 17years old he took a position at the Crescent steel works and continued with the firm until his death, passing through all the grades until he became manager of the forging department. He lived in the Eighteenth ward for 20 years, erecting a new home in Center avenue three years ago. He survived by his widow, two daughters, one sister, and two brothers. His daughters are Mrs. Jennie Neeves, Monessen, Mrs. Eva Mick, Pittsburg, and Mrs. J.A. Lentz, Cheswick. His brothers are Thomas of Aspinwall, and William Montgomery, of the Indian Territory. Three small grandchildren also survive. (Now I have the married name of his daughter Jennie and know at least where his brother William was in 1906...but does Indian Territory mean Oklahoma? I only knew of 1 grandchild, the other 2 must be Neeves. Has anyone heard of this name?) Jo
Now am tired but I'll continue tomorrow with the few obits I have left. two are from 1906 (Hugh Findley Irwin and Mrs. Martha Katherine Davis). And some from 1926 (2 Montgomerys, Payne, and Reinhart). Jo
