    3. Josie Carey's 'co-star' was an old man named Mr. Winkle, who I think was supposed to be some madcap inventor(?) I think you're right about it being a 'forerunner' to Mr. Rogers. Anyone remember 'Rickie and Copper'? That was Rickie Wertz and her dog, Copper, an Irish Setter. This was her show before she hosted the Junior High Quiz Show. In the early days of TV in Pgh, The Howdy Doody show on the DuMont Network, came on every day, I believe. Also Andy Devine had a Saturday show, with Froggy the Gremlin ("Plunk your magic twanger, Froggy"). This line started the cartoons. When I went to Humboldt School ('51 - '57) on 19th & Sarah S.S.(presently Phillips School) we used to go home for lunch. Right after the 15 minute news on KDKA (as I recall,) Hank Stohl and Knish came on. I remember watching it every school day. Does any one remember Josie Carey's story hour? I'm pretty sure it was a fore-runner of Mr. Rogers neighborhood. Part of Mr. Rogers' set, the castle, King, etc. were from her show as I recall. We went to WQED one school year and watched Josie talking to those characters. Also, Clark Race Dance show on Saturday afternoons (KDKA I believe). One last name, Reg Cordic on KDKA. A few great memories...
