(They go at least back to the 1850s, all on microfilm.) When I couldn't find my ancestors in Cincinnati census records because they mutilated the name spellings, I resorted to looking up the street address itself in the census reports, taken from the city directories. Viola - I found everyone living right where I knew they had to be - with names misspelled almost beyond recognition. My Pittsburgh ancestors lived in the German area of Spring Garden and Troy Hill, and the city directories show them with seven different addresses over a ten year period, all within close proximity of each other. You will find the communities you listed for your ancestors all within reach of each other (Avalon, Bellevue, Ben Avon).
