    3. Hi Carol, I may have confused Chartiers Borough with Chartiers Township. The sectiion of Pittsburgh that I had in mind is now known as Elliott and is part of the City of Pittsburgh. The West End Section was known as Temperanceville back in the 1800s. I typed 'Walker's Mill' in the search line and there is a town by that name in Pennsylvania. When I tried expediamaps.com, it asked for more in- formation and suggested that Walker's Mill might be part of a larger city. I had friends in Mt. Lebanon and I lived in Crafton. From there, I remember going through Greentree, across Mansfield Road to Green- tree Road, then taking Carnaham Road to Banksville Road. It has been 23 years since I moved from there. The roads might be different today. Anyway, I do hope you find what you are looking for. If I can be of any help, please don't hesitate to ask me. I vaugly remember hearing of Banksville, believe it was on the south side of today's Pittsburgh. There is a good 1880 map of Allegheny Co at http://www.rootsweb.com/~usergenweb/maps/pa/county/allegh/usgs/ however it does not include Chartiers in it's township list. Chartiers was probably absorbed into another township. The Banksville name however may provide you with a lead as I'm sure there are Burgers who can tell you exactly where it was/is. That would be an indication of Chartiers location. Good luck, Carol S. ----- Original Message ----- From: "mlutz" <mlutz@hiwaay.net> To: <PA-PITTSBURGH-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, November 13, 2001 11:00 AM Subject: Re: [PITTSBURGH] John MOSS > My Irish ancestors lived in Chartiers Township back in 1860s > and 1870s.
