My ancestors traveled in the opposite direction from the norm...they moved their whole family east, from Cincinnati, Ohio to Pittsburgh (Allegheny City) in 1890. Am I correct in thinking they most likely traveled by boat over the Ohio River? Any thoughts? Ray
Ray, Mostly like were trains or boat. The railroad came to Pittsburgh in 1852 and coast to coast was available before 1890 although I don't recall the year. I believe it was in the 1870s.
