    3. Does anyone know what the term "bummer" means when used in the context of a person traveling? The sentence using it is as follows: "He had come out from Pittsburgh on the bummer..." I'm wondering if it has something to do with a train? This was in a 1931 obituary I was reading and I had never heard the term before. Victoria Hospodar Valentine

    3. Victoria, et al, The phrase 'bummer' refers to the last train of the day to that particular place. In the days of many commuter trains, they generally left the depot after 10 or 11 PM. Mac
