Al, Your obliviously from Sinatra generation, but speaking from a 60's generation, listening to some of the artists, lately like the Backstreet Boys, or N-Sync, You obviously haven't heard Boys 2 Men (though they've dropped off the scenes now), the harmony groups are still more famous than ever. What about harry Connick Jr. is up there with his voice? He does great with allot of those Sinatra-like balled songs! Yes, I do agree that Sinatra was a jewell, don't forget about Dino Martin, Andy Williams, Perry Como give the Nat King Cole's their due too! Bennett can still is out there thrilling the crowds, even me these days! I do agree that the "sex" thing will always be there. Young people are always swayed by that "unknown thing", but these artists, like Destiny's Child (all woman group of three like the Supreme's of the 60's) are great listening. Young people see through some of the hype, give them credit, just like we could see through it when we were young! Right, Mac? Seriously, before the Hill District was leveled for the Civic Arena and before the riots of '68, there were a lot of night spots all over the Pgh region, drawing a lot of the name entertainers but greed and economics killed most of them and TV can probably share some of the blame. Most of the singers popular today with the young kids, well, at least the younger crowd, probably wouldn't have made it 50 years ago. They are selling sex as much as, if not more than, the music that they deliver. Comparing them to Sinatra, Bennett, Torme and others of that generation is a joke. Most of today's stars couldn't even warm up the audience; they would have been booed from existence. I will ask Mac. You are right, he is older. Much older. ==== PA-PITTSBURGH Mailing List ==== How to unsubscribe.
