    3. Ginnie, I'll have to pass on the role of guest speaker. Evidently you have never heard my voice. I have to speak softly so as not to scare people, especially kids. It's a gruff, deep, bass and I can project it quite some distance. I don't use a radio at fires other than to talk to the dispatch operator. My men can hear me better when I don't use a radio. My voice is so deep that it causes me problems. Over the radio, people have a hard time understanding me because of its depth. If I raise it an octave so people can hear better, they think I'm excited and, if I so excited, then it must be a really tough fire and then they get excited and excited people make stupid mistakes. My solution is too speak as little as possible but in a slow tempo. Compared to a stereo system, my voice is probably between a woofer and a sub-woofer. Still want me to speak?
