Mac, My grade school had 16 rooms and the high school upstairs had 8 rooms. On the first floor there were 2 1st grades, 2 2nd, 2 3rd and 2 4th. 5 - 8 was on the second floor. We didn't have the advantage of mixed grades, there were 72 kids in my 1st grade class. Since I could already read, my job was to tell Joey Brown how to read. He and I shared a desk, one of those with the fold up seats and the ink well. He didn't pass first grade, so I guess I flubbed my first teaching job. We were that poor nuns first class, I wonder if she left the order. Oh, by the way, St. Lawrence O'Toole on Penn Ave. in Garfield. Rosanne
