    1. [PA-PITTSBURGH] Mrs. MARSHALL rescued by Dr. HAMMA Oct. 31, 1913 McDonald PA Record
    2. Victoria Hospodar Valentine
    3. Mrs. J. W. MARSHALL of Pittsburgh was rescued from death under the wheels of a passenger train by Dr. J. A. HAMMA Monday morning. About 2,000 people were assembled at the Pennsylvania Station in Carnegie to see off the Rev. M. H. LYON, the evangelist who had closed a series of meetings in the town. The assemblage was singing a hymn just before the train arrived. To their consternation they saw a woman push her way through the crowd and start across the tracks. While the lookers-on turned away their heads, feeling that the train, a few feet away, would crush the woman who had stumbled and fallen, Dr. HAMMA ran onto the track, picked Mrs. MARSHALL up and threw her to safety. He himself escaped the train by a second. Dr. J. A. HAMMA is known in McDonald, having been a practicing physician here about fifteen years ago.

    3. Thanks for the article Al. I think I read it already. I was thinking, maybe I would ask the city and Penquins to build a swimming pool next door for me to use. How about a new house, that would be great or how about a high management job that pays a lot but does not require any work. 1. [PA-PITTSBURGH] Pittsburgh Bureau of Police employment records
    2. David Zimmerman
    3. Does anyone know if it is possible to get the employment records for relatives that were members of the Pittsburgh Police Department in the late 19th century ?? I am trying to find the place of birth for my G-Grandfather William L. Morgan (1847-1890) and have reached a dead end. However, he had a Brother, John L. Morgan (1855-????) that was a member of the Pittsburgh Police Department in or about 1893 until about 1901. During that time period John L. lived at 1307 Bingham Street on the Southside. John L. shows up as policeman for several years in the Pittsburgh City Directory and U. S. Federal Census. In 1910 census he is no longer a Policeman. I have written two letters to the Pgh Bureau of Police and have not received any reponse from them. Are such records in the public domain from that time period ?? Am I asking the wrong people and those records are being held by others ??

    3. There are lists of churches and their corresponding pastors in many of the City Directories on our site: http://Directory.EveNDon.com . Those for 1852 and particularly 1864 include these lists. The "R." could be "Reverend" and the "Phil" could be for "St. Philomena" or it could be part of the pastor's name.
