    1. [PITTSBURGH] 74th PA Website Revised
    2. Rod's Account
    3. Hello 74thers and PA Civil War listers. I made some significant updates to the 74th website - now with over 4500 hits since its inception nearly two years ago - that might be of interest: 1. My summary, with a tour perspective provided by Bret, of the Chancellorsville engagement - please note that this descendant is no fan of General Howard -- all opinions therein are mine and solely mine regarding that individual's performance on the 2nd of May. A few pictures take a moment to load, but I hope it allows you to get an idea of the area our ancestors fought at. 2. Company D picture - though not marked revised - now has a transcription attached to it that gives the information that you can see on the picture - thanks again to Rob for that. 3. E-mail addresses have been changed or added depending. Updates to the researcher's list has been made - Mike Heim, I will get yours this next week - and also to Unsere Ahnen. I have a stack of reading to do as a result of a September visit - that fortunately put be back home on 10 September - to D.C. Thanks to Bret and Lexie, a trooper extraordinare for the great Sunday last month. Three battlefields in a day - remarkable to say the least. If anyone on the list is a descendant - you are welcome in the ranks! Just e-mail me. 2. Ya wouldn't necessarily think FL might be a fruit place but it is all year round! But it's more suddel than up north, but here in Lake county we have a bunch of fruit hucksters around here. But this county is agriculture all the way! Even though the orange industry isn't as big here as it was! Too many freezes in previous years! 2. I went to St. Bridgids well in Ireland, so that is the correct spelling. I also thought it should be Bridget Sailors from the area always carried water from her well in their small boats for luck. Ginnie

    3. Cathy, I think of Florida as being warm all the time and growing veggies and fruit year 'round. It's hard to think of "freezes" in Florida, but I know they have them in the northern part of the state! I didn't realize the orange industry isn't what it used to be because of the weather - I would have figured it was the same as here - because of building! Thanks for the info. 1. [PITTSBURGH] Charles Lewis Smith obituary
    2. SMITH_On Mon..June 10, 1940, at 9:55 a.m., Charles Lewis, husband of Catharine Montague Smith, and father of Lawrence, Charles, James and Mrs. James Strachan, and son of Carrie Lauman and the late Charles L. Smith. Friends received at John A. Freyvogel Funeral Home, 3406 Fifth Ave. Funeral Thursday, June 13, at 8:30 a.m. Requeim high mass at St. Bridgid's Church at 9 o'clock. Friends invited. The obituary was clipped from the newspaper, hence omitting it's name. It could have been the Pittsburgh Press or Sun Telegraph. The spelling of St. Bridgid's Church is as taken from the newspaper. I thought it might be Bridget, but am not sure. This is an item that was saved by my mother and father. I have no other information.
