Hi Al You did not do anything. Someone complimented you for your help and I agreed Barb
Dear Jo, Is Scott Township part of Allegheny or Westmoreland county? The reason is Elmer Barkley and Sophia Harris listed here (I presume they are part of Scott Township) are in my family tree. It's an indirect line, but a direct line for my cousin and I know she would be very interested to learn where she could get a copy of the marriage license. Thanks so much!! Marilyn G. from So. I found my grandmother, Jane Lantz in Ward 17 in 1900 when she was 11 years old. (Home and Butler streets are on the census page) Where was the 17th ward in 1900? I have a class school photo of her from about this time. What public school would be in this area? Thanks, Jo
Just received the obit of my gg grandmother's brother, James Samuel Montgomery. It states that he was born in 1849 in the old 5th ward opposite Trinity Church. What street would this be and what occupies that area today? Jo
Hi Carol, Just a guess, but her name might be Cecile (or Cecilia). I've known women with the name who went by the 2nd syllable (pronounced seal)as a nickname. Very interesting Carol. I wonder if he had any land holdings in the Washington County or later Columbiana County area where I'm from, along the OH River! Hum.!!! Washington County was one of the first counties that was settled, near Marietta, OH, in southern OH. I had McKain/Plummer people there, then moving to Columbiana County. & other links from Hookstown, PA, Beaver county, which used to be Allegheny county, PA! I've found many books dealing with the Irish/scotch people first moving to Western PA, in the 1700's. Interesting reading that was! Is anyone acquainted with the HURLEY name? Mother's cousin, Ceile (spelling is a guess, was pronounced "seal"), married Hurley. Lived in Carnegie in 1930's.
