Donna, It would have to be the St Mary's that was in Fineview or Nunnery Hill. That's within a mile of Annunciation Church. The St. Mary's that is in Bloomfield is another 4-6 miles away. Sometime in the past there was a discussion of this cemetery but I didn't keep any of the posts. Maybe another lister saved this info. Jean, You're trying to butter me up!! Do I happen to know who owns the building? I'm lucky if I know who owns the house across the street from me....... or down the block! In all seriousness, check the county's assessment site. You'll not only get the present owner's name but a photo of the building to boot! If you still have trouble, let me know and I'll see what I can find. Al At 01:13 AM 10/21/2001, you wrote: >Al, you seem to know Pittsburgh well. Hi. Does anyone have anything on HERBERT< HENKE< LUDWIG<FAGAN. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Virginia
Jean, Sounds like a trip to the Carnegie Library, where I've heard are the City directories would answer your question. You have years below, so just go to those years. Though others would be able to testify where these are, for I haven't been there myself as yet. Sounds like you have enough info to me to find it, no problem! What about it Al, care to say where they might be or are?! Hi, I am a new subscriber. Looking for my father's roots: Fulton William Stitzell, b. Oct 16, 1914, d. Dec 15, 1996. b & d in Pittsburgh, PA. His parents: William Christopher Stitzell and Marie Jean Fulton. Parents of William: (?) William C. or H. Stitzell - all I know is that he died in 1936. and Alice Johnston or McCullough. Alice b. 1872 (maybe Scotland),d. 1970 in Presby Home in Oakmont, PA. at age 97. Alice or Nana as we called her, was very secretive about her family. I have a bible that was in her trunk when she died with one Johnston family listed - only. also, many photos that are (what else) unidentified. I have some Stitzell info on William's sibling - could have been 10 or more according to obit of (another) William Stitzell, b. 1821 or 1823, d. Mar 10, 1907. Says survived by 6 sons and 4 daughters. I also have his funeral bill. Who was his wife - wives - ?? Elizabeth shows in 1910 census with children: Sophia, age 47, Oliver, age 28, Clyde C., age 23, in Homstead, PA. Clyde was my gr uncle and I remember going to his house in Homestead up a huge flight of cement steps. Anyone out there know more of these folks? Emma Stitzell, 1871-1961, m. Joe Robinson is most likely another sibling of William. I have the complete line on Joe if anyone is interested and a photo of Emma - somewhere. Thanks for any help. I do live in Pittsburgh, PA, but have been homebound pretty much with my husband's recent open heart surgery. Nancy Stitzell Economou
OK I'm still trying to find out which St. Mary's Cemetery my WHEELER's were buried in. I have recently found quite a bit of information about the Annunciation Church on Charles Street that they attended. It seems that Annunciation Church and St. Mary's Cemetery were closely linked. The church borrowed money from the Cemetery at one point, and many of their parishoners were buried there. Doesn't anyone know which St. Mary's Cemetery would have been closely associated with the Annunciation Church? Thanks Donna

As I was going through the July 1, 1906 edition of the Pittsburgh Press I found this article. My eyes were drawn to it because of the time as a child, I spent at the Lake. My dad kept a boat there and every summer Sunday we would go up and ride around the lake. Of course my brother, sister and I would have preferred going the park. If my dad did pull the boat into the park, us kids were not allowed to ride the rides, only watch mom and dad play skee ball. Occasionally on Westinghouse picnic day we were allowed on a few of the rides (my dad had some unusual ideas about proper behavior). His aunt and uncle Tom and Pearl (Long) Sutch had a cottage on the lake. Anyway, here's the article: Exposition Park, Conneaut, June 30.-The last week was very slow at Exposition Park. The largest picnics were from Franklin, Sharon and Butler, but they were small in comparison with what they were last year. Odd Fellows' Day was the smallest ever in the history of the resort. This was due to the lack of advertising, but the falling off in attendance is due to the large business the mills are doing this summer. Formerly the mills shut down or ran short-handed during the summer. But the large number of orders booked make it impossible to allow many vacations this year. E.D. Comstock, who broke his leg two weeks ago, and has been in Spencer Hospital in Meadville, came out to his cottage Tuesday. Mrs. A. Jahn and family, of Homestead, have taken a cottage at the park and will remain during the summer. Following is a list of new arrivals at Conneaut Lake: At Hotel Conneaut: From Pittsburgh- Mr. and Mrs. F. Carew, Antoinette Snyder, Marcelle Snyder, Lean Snyder, August Snyder Jr., Francis Snyder, Paul Snyder, W.B. McCutcheon, C.J. LIppi, W.H. Black and wife, Miss A. Mellody, Miss A. Jones, James McKirdy, W.V. Taffner, W. L. Collin, W.M. Roberts, E.D. Horkheimer, W.V. Campbell, Carrie Gass, E. Benswanger, W.M. Reid, H.H. Schoefield and wife, V.B. Hamilton, J.A. Dunn, H.C. PLEASE NOTE: I considered not sending this because it is not an easy thing to read as it deals with the death of a child. But, I thought that it might help someone, so beware if you are very tender hearted. A news story from the July 21, 1969 Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. I had origionally posted it to another site. Anthony MILLS, 5, of 6707 Rowan St., East Liberty was fatally injured Saturday when he walked through a glass storm door at his home. His mother, Mrs. Otis MILLS, after he ran through the door, rushed him to Pittsburgh Hospital where he was dead on arrival from a severed jugular vein.
Does anyone have the link for Norm's tombstone web page? I lost most of my bookmarks when I changed jobs and they re-formatted my old computer. Thanks, Bryan.
Is anyone here researching WINKOWSKI, from the South Side area? Please let me know. Thanks, Bryan.

Jean- My husband has a heart condition and every so often must go to Presby hospital in Pittsburgh to have his defibrillator checked. So I keep a list of my ancestors that died in the PIttsburgh area that I know the dates for and take it with me. The drive to Pittsburgh and the drive back make for a long day (about 85 miles one way) but last week I was able to spend four hours in the Carnegie library looking at microfilm. (Some times my husband is too tired and we head right back home after his appointment.) I always try to copy some of the page around the obits that I need so I can bring back some obits to share. Jo
