    3. Bryan, You should see the pie that Linda's making for the firehouse for tomorrow night. It takes over a day because it has 3 different layers and has to be refrigerated a minimum of 4 hours for each layer, so that they can set up. The doggone thing is at least 3 inches high. The topping is whipped cream, powdered sugar and ............ (old age, I forgot what she said, as I was tasting it)!! 1. [PITTSBURGH] John Moss
    2. This message may come across twice, so please excuse me if it does - Good morning List !!! I have been enjoying your numerous comments over the past month or two - I am seeking additional information on family of John Moss. An old obituary, John Moss was born at Charters Creek, Alleghany county, Pa on April 16, 1833. He married Sarah Graham at Charters Creek, Pa March 15 1855. They moved to Malvern Ohio in 1858. I believe they had a son James Graham Moss born in Pittsburgh Jan 20 1856. I am seeking information on either family or siblings. I use to live in West Mifflin, and thought perhaps the reference to Charters Creek could have been about Chartiers but its only a guess. Perhaps there was a Charters Creek around 1833. If so, can anyone provide any help - Thanks

    3. Hi Carol, I may have confused Chartiers Borough with Chartiers Township. The sectiion of Pittsburgh that I had in mind is now known as Elliott and is part of the City of Pittsburgh. The West End Section was known as Temperanceville back in the 1800s. I typed 'Walker's Mill' in the search line and there is a town by that name in Pennsylvania. When I tried expediamaps.com, it asked for more in- formation and suggested that Walker's Mill might be part of a larger city. I had friends in Mt. Lebanon and I lived in Crafton. From there, I remember going through Greentree, across Mansfield Road to Green- tree Road, then taking Carnaham Road to Banksville Road. It has been 23 years since I moved from there. The roads might be different today. Anyway, I do hope you find what you are looking for. If I can be of any help, please don't hesitate to ask me. I vaugly remember hearing of Banksville, believe it was on the south side of today's Pittsburgh. There is a good 1880 map of Allegheny Co at http://www.rootsweb.com/~usergenweb/maps/pa/county/allegh/usgs/ however it does not include Chartiers in it's township list. Chartiers was probably absorbed into another township. The Banksville name however may provide you with a lead as I'm sure there are Burgers who can tell you exactly where it was/is. That would be an indication of Chartiers location. 2. Good morning list!!!! - I enjoy viewing you comments and certainly miss the local area. I am looking for information on John Moss. According to copy of old obituary, he was born at Charters Creek, Alleghany County, Pa April 16, 1833. He was married to Sarah Graham at Charters Creek, Pa. March 15, 1855. Left Charters Creek, Pa in 1858. I am trying to identify parents and siblings, either side. Seeking any information to verify he was here. I use to live in West Mifflin and thought when I read this Obit that perhaps Charters Creek was Chartiers as I had never heard of Charters Creek, but that doesn't mean it didn't exist in 1833. Can anyone provide any help?

    3. Carol, I really don't know who would have records of the teachers. I know Technology has the student's permanent record cards, but I don't know what info is available on the teachers. You might try writing to them, but I don't remember seeing any info on teachers when I was working in Technology. Bryan. -----Original Message----- From: Carol S.
