    3. BlankJust wanted to make sure no one misunderstood my last message. When I said I received a virus, I said it was obviously someone on the list. Please, I didn't mean to imply someone would intentionally send me something. I know how the virus works - it attaches itself to everyone in your e-mail list. The person from whom I received the e-mail may not even know he or she is infected. I said "obviously" because it had a Rootsweb list subject, but again, it came directly to me, not through the list. Sorry if I offended anyone. Marilyn G. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). 3. Bob, I also received (and corrected) the virus that "appeared" to come from the list, but only because it had the same subject as a previous post to the list. On my e-mail, I include the "To" line in the view so I can see at a glance if a message is sent to a list or to me personally. This one showed up with the List subject, but was sent DIRECTLY to my personal e-mail. It was from someone other than William Goodwin, but obviously was someone who communicated directly with someone on one of the lists. I didn't always include the "To" column because I figured why include that column when it is obvious if I have received an e-mail, it was to ME? But once I signed up with group lists, I like to know if the message is to me personally or is one that is going to everyone on the list. I hope this makes sense! You can't get a virus through the list and you can't get an attachment through the Rootsweb lists. 2. I received one from him this morning with the subject line Binkley/Davidson/Frick which are the names I'm researching. The attachment was IMAGE.doc.pif. I emailed him back with his real email address which was at the bottom of the page and advised him of the virus. I've been extremely cautious of opening anything that has the two dot file name. ************************************** Donna Binkley Lograsso - St. Louis, MO Searching: BINKLEY - ALLEGHENY Co., Penn Hills/Plum Boro., PA DAVIDSON, FRICK - WESTMORELAND and ALLEGHENY Co., PA BINKLEY, MORGAN - Ohio SABOCK, YENETS, PERCICH - CAMBRIA Co., PA

    1. [PITTSBURGH] Hope Church & Gill Hall locations
    2. The following info was sent to me by others on this list, which I recived with deep gratitufe and now share with other inquirers. [my apologies for not recording the original presenters] Cora -------------------- In 1900, Hope Church (Mifflin Twp, Allegheny Co) had a railroad station, a telegraph station, an express office, and a post office. Population: 1,000 according to Bradstreet's Commercial Reports. Hope Church was in Mifflin Township near Lincoln Place. Hope Church was at the bottom of Mifflin Road and Lebanon Road (Rte 885 N) and was adjacent to Hays P.O. and ran along Streets Run Road near the Pgh and Virginia Railroad tracks. The majority of the property was a plan of homes owned by I.D. Risher. This may be the same person that owned Risher Coal. Risher married into the John Hays family (they started the coal mines in Hays). John Hope and William Hope had coal mines in the northwest corner of Mifflin Township in 1876. On the 1876 Allegheny County Map there is a Hope Church in the NW corner of Mifflin Township. It looks like it would be situated where Lincoln Place is now - close to the Munhall border line. About where West Run Road and Main Street and Interboro Avenues meet. In 1876, Gill Hall P.O. was in Jefferson Township nearer to Snowden Twp.

    1. [PITTSBURGH] Adams 4th ward
    2. Looking for information concerning the following peope in the fourth ward in 1845: 1 - Samuel D. Adams, b. ? m. ? d. ? May have been in Brownsville or West Brownsville Pennsylvania after wife and two daughters died. The middle initial D. may stand for Douglas as his daughter Anne Jane named one of her sons Samuel Douglas. It was said that Samuel may have owned a Tavern, but we have found no record of him. He and his wife are our brick walls. + Wife Lydia (Ostander/Pierce one record gives her maiden name as Ostander, another says Pierce) b. ? m. ? died 1845. Lydia and three daughters (names except for Anne Jane not known, but one may have been named Amanda),were put in a straw strewn room somewhere in the 4th ward Pittsburgh Pa. 9 year old daughter Ann Jane was the only one to survive after watching her mother and sisters die of Smallpox. Were buried where Union station now stands. The Methodist burying ground was dug up and moved when the station was built, then moved again when the station expanded. Lydia is said to have been of the Youghiogheny River Band of Shawnee. 2 - Daughter Anne Jane Adams b 11 Nov 1836 Indiana Pa. Married Finley Allshouse Jan 14, 1856 by a Rev Conner of M.C. Church. possibly Canonsburg. d. 1923. We have a picture of Anne Jane. 2 - Found a sister when reading Anne Janes Civil War Widows pension file. Katherine Murray of Dellslow W.Va.. Had some pages from Anne Jane Adams Allshouse's CW Widows pension file, and purchased the remaining pages which allowed us to prove the rest of the affidavits were all signed by known relatives. The only one not signed by an Allshouse relative was Catherine E. Murray of W. Va. in which she states she is Anne Janes sister. Anne Jane and Catherine were both educated, they signed their names to the forms and affidavits while the Allshouse relatives made their marks. Thank you for your time. 1. [PITTSBURGH] Michael CORBETT in City Directories
    2. carolyn j stone
    3. Hi Listers, I'm new to this list and am asking for help with the following: Need help re Pittsburgh (Allegheny City) City Directories 1880-1900. According to the 1870 Allegheny Co Fed Census, Michael CORBETT along with his wife, Mary GIBBONS CORBETT, their son, John, their daughter, Margaret Josephine, and Michael’s sister, Mary CORBETT, were living in Pittsburgh’s 12 Ward. By 1880 Michael’s sister, Mary CORBETT, was no longer living with the family; but Michael and Mary had added two daughters, Mary and Annie. In the 1880 Census, the family was living on Hillside St in Allegheny City, 12 Ward. In 1888 Margaret Josephine CORBETT married Patrick SARSFIELD somewhere in Allegheny Co and lived the rest of her life in Beaver Co. There is not a Michael CORBETT listed in the 1900 Allegheny Co Census. When did Michael leave Allegheny Co or did he die between 1880 and 1900? Seeking descendants of this family
