    3. Carol, I feel like one of a few survivors alive, especially after this subject line. I could almost hear the echo and envision a path of destruction with someone standing on top of a mountain, hands around mouth, hollering "Hellloooo out there"! But, I agree. Here today, hope to be here tomorrow! Marilyn G. ----- Original Message ----- From: Carol S. Subject: [PITTSBURGH] Hellloooo out there Loved the Moses story Sue. Maybe we should take a roll call of those subscribees (just made that up) to determine who is still on their feet at this site after the BadTrans and AT&T attacks. Not the genealogy type roll call, just who is still sending and receiving. Count me in as of this time, tomorrow may be a different story. Carol S. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. 1. [PITTSBURGH] another press release on AT&T broadband and Excite
    2. marilynandmonty
    3. BlankSharon, I found more info on the following AT&T site. Based on an earlier release on Friday, apparently EXCITE wouldn't tell AT&T if it would shut down - it just did it! http://192.20.3.54/press/item/0,1354,4100,00.html Marilyn When this is all done, we will all have a different e-mail address (the last part after the "at" sign) - and I finally got everyone notified and used to my new address when I subscribed to high-speed internet two months ago! 2. marilynandmonty
    3. Sharon, I'm not far behind Moses in being computer literate - I'm going by what I read on the following URL and other sites. I don't think AT&T sent out any info - I think the company was trying to negotiate with EXCITE or get its own high-speed internet up before EXCITE "pulled the plug" (allowed on Friday by a federal judge). I don't think the companies thought EXCITE would really cut off some of the large users - AT&T, Cox, etc. The following URL will explain more about why AT&T is the one that appears to be most affected. Why you are still connected, I'm not sure, except that maybe AT&T included all of the West Coast in its transition sometime while we slept Friday night - or AT&T broadband is different than the other connections?!? I thought all the high-speed connections were broadband? (As you can see, I have really crossed into an area I'm unfamiliar with!) http://home-news.excite.com/news/ap/011201/20/tech-excite-internet-access My service is called EXCITE for COX@home, because I'm on Cox Cable rather than AT&T. Friday, we received a message that our service may be interrupted and to download netzero.com prior to midnight so we could access our @home.com messages. Cox said it would pay for any charges until it initiates its own high-speed internet. So I'm not out of the clear, yet, and could lose connection. Hopefully, this made sense. Please read the article - it should help! Marilyn ----- Original Message ----- From: sharon coryell Subject: Re: [PITTSBURGH] A conversation Marilyn, Moses and I must have more in common than I thought! I think I'm still confused. I'm also in Southern California (Los Angeles) and have Broadband. Since I have heard nothing from my server, I am assuming that whatever is happening to other AT&T users is not happening to Broadband. If I'm wrong, please let me know. Since I'm on and off the Internet all day for work, I'll be up that creek without that paddle. 3. Sue, This is soooo appropriate for what is happening! Too bad those who are being bounced aren't seeing it. Maybe you can resend it once they get back online! 3. Carol, Love your sense of humor! I'm beginning to think you and I are the only two people left on this list. I hope the high-speed internet companies work this out soon! If you're not aware, EXCITE@home was the high-speed internet provider to about 4 million subscribers, including 850,000 on AT&T. A federal judge allowed Excite to "pull the plug" midnight Saturday if it couldn't negotiate with cable providers, such as Cox, Comcast and AT&T. 3. To Carol and others on the list, This error message may be coming back to a lot of us in the coming days. Excite and AT&T negotiations broke down and AT&T stopped service early Saturday. So if you are sending messages to anyone with home.com (as with Sue, our "listmom") in their address, you may get them bounced back. Don't worry, though - you should be hearing from her soon, if you haven't already, under a different address and provider - at least until AT&T gets back online! The following URL will provide more info. Some of us have yet to lose service, though we could any minute! http://home-news.excite.com/news/ap/011201/20/tech-excite-internet-access Marilyn G. ----- Original Message ----- From: Carol S.
