OK, here we go.... Minersville Elementary School Center Ave & Morgan St., Pittsburgh Opening date--unknown. Closing date-September, 1942. Combined with Rose Elementary School. Rose Elementary School Rose & Charles Streets, Pittsburgh Opening date--unknown. Closing date-June, 1942. Combined with Minersville Elementary School. Assumption on my part--As both schools were closed in 1942, I am assuming that they moved to a different building and combined students. I don't have any info as to what building or pre-existing school they moved to though. Sorry. Might want to check microfilm for news stories about the school closings? WEll, I've read some of these messages this early morning, but this one about God Moses is GREAT! I've figured out this computer, partly because I've had my share of viruses, those great listers have helped me out letting me know where to get Anti-virus software, checking my computer for it too! And basically letting me know I had one in the first place! Thanks everyone! I wasn't around much because of majoring cleaning for the holidays! Keep talking! HAVE A GREAT WEEK! Hi Sue and Everyone! Not sure whether I qualify as a lurker or just interested in specific queries <lol> Think all the lists I sub to are quieter than usual ... could be the upcoming holidays as well. People just seem to be interested in other things beside genealogy .... can't understand that, can you? <lol>! Barb Genealogy Researcher - Census & Military Research "Remember me in the family tree -- my name, my days, my strife; Then I'll ride upon the wings of time and live an endless life." (Goetsch)
Carol, I can do that myself from the administration page for this list. We have nearly 400 members and a lot of them are lurkers or those strictly reading only genealogy information. To have a roll call will just clog up mail boxes (especially mine). That's why it's important to change the subject lines as necesary, to keep everyone as happy as possible. Sue*
Just to let you know that I am connected via AOL. I still haven't managed to get around to posting anything yet. Got myself a holiday job, so busy. Deirdre
Rumor has it that he's been putting in a lot of overtime this past week, atleast that's the excuse he gave me. I think he's been napping a lot, old age you know, hehe. Sue*
Roseanne, I think it's a combination of the virus messes and ATT cable's messes. We have quite a few list members that either fell victim to the BadTrans.B and a couple dozen members with @home addys. Sue*
Sharon, Pittsburgh was one of the first to go. Marilyn, who's also on this list from CA still has her connection too. Sue*
No Sue, I didn't have in mind that you should make a count. Simply thought we can all just post as 'checking in' to know those who are left and still awake at this time. I can immagine your panic reaction to my suggestion, sorry about that. If it gets too bad breath into a paper bag. (BG). NO ROLL CALL. Loved the Moses story Sue. Maybe we should take a roll call of those subscribees (just made that up) to determine who is still on their feet at this site after the BadTrans and AT&T attacks. Not the genealogy type roll call, just who is still sending and receiving. Count me in as of this time, tomorrow may be a different story. Carol S.
Marilyn, Thanks for that latest release. I was beginning to think my mind (what little is left) was really going. I have Media One, which according to that release is on a separately operated system, and which is why I didn't know anything about all of the problems with Excite. Darleen, I'm just about ready to get really old fashioned and go back to a tin can and string. Supposedly, the Pgh. area will have ATT cable service running again within seven days. I'm not holding my breath. I've gotten dozens and dozens of bounces from this list, all @home subscribers, I hadn't realized how many we had! Sue*
