I am looking for any information on my great-grandfather, John Fitzgerald Pfeiffer. He was born in Pittsburgh on June 02, 1891 and died in Pittsburgh in March 10, 1968 - buried in Rosedale German Cementary. He married Elizabeth Mary Bupp (b. May 23, 1892 - d. May 29, 1959) and had one daughter, my grandmother, Elizabeth Jane. Does any SKS have any information that would help me out? Thanks! Kelley Wood Fullerton, CA
Best wishes for a happy, safe, Holiday Season to all my net friends from Carol S.

Need some help. I think I remember finding a site some time ago with a terrific search engine that allowed me to search the Social Security Death Index both by date of birth and maiden name. Can't do that extensive a search with most I use, like the one on Ancestry.com. Now I have a case where that will be the only way I can find the person, who has remarried several times and used different first names. I don't know where I saw the specialized SSDI search site, and was hoping someone would have some suggestions. Thanks, Pat thecomyn@aol.com Patrick Cummins Fairfax, VA Researching Cummins, Hamilton, Kraft, Smith, Lewallen, Stover

A GENEALOGIST CHRISTMAS By Pat Newhouse 'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse; For I am a genealogist and I had forgot The tree wasn't up and not a single gift was bought. While little children's heads were full of sugarplum thrills, I had spent the whole season looking for grandparents' wills, While others had fought the crowds to purchase their Christmas cheer, I had used my time to look for Granny's birthplace and year, But then out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, That I sprang from my desk to see what was the matter, But was it old Santa I had come to expect, Not to bring happy gifts, but to wring my fool neck? He had a big red bag all slung over his back, But it looked more to me like a big mail sack. Toys he had for children, lots of candies and cookies too. Then he did a turnabout and said, "Now it's time for you." Then he pulled out a package, seemed funny-shaped to me, "My gift to you," he said, "A branch of your own family tree," There were all the missing links I had tried so hard to find. The documents and pictures too; it was a genealogical gold mine! As he started to leave, I gave him a big hug. He'd made the merriest Christmas ever for this humble genie bug. Off to his waiting reindeer and up and away he flew, Saying, "Merry Christmas to all and a good hunting to you!" Mac, I can still learn something everyday. I didn't know about the preview feature. It is just possible that I had it checked without realizing--it would only take one time--one infected e-mail. Yes, I'm still using Outlook Express even though you have preached the merits of Netscape. I can hear you way up here in Mercer County saying, "I told you so". I guess it is the McCutcheon blood in me that makes me as stubborn as you. Thanks for the tip, Mac. I appreciate all suggestions.
